This is all very interesting, but the OP apparently (according to the insurer) didn't notify them at renewal either, so it's rather irrelevant whether they needed to tell them mid-term.0

Exactly!
But this "interesting" discussion at least underlines:

Well I feel sorry for the OP. I am sure that the non disclosure was not deliberate. After all you wouldn't really expect a huge, if any, increase in your premium because you had an SP30!!
This is the problem with auto renewals, it doesn't give the company the opportunity to remind the ins that this needs to be disclosed.ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -
Do they load a premium for only 3 points?0

Some do and some don't. Seems this one does!0

i agree, i would certainly check out all advice given here (even my own!)
i would also stress that it's important to treat other posters views with respect, and refrain from hurling personal abuse.
Tinkerbell seems to think it's fine to abuse me and my family because i happened to think he/she was wrong on this topic. And then doesn't feel it necessary to apologise when it emerges that i she was wrong all along. Bad form, but i suppose some people are like that:rolleyes:0 -
my friend replied and confirmed that the term about conviction disclosure is "changing", and that there was a leaflet in all renewal packs (which go out 4 weeks before policy end)
he didn't know that the online docs are still unchanged, and is following that up with the technical team.
as I won't be back at my other house until next weekend i've asked him to scan the yellow leaflet and e-mail it to me so that i can post it here for you.0 -
I don't agree that auto-renewal doesn't allow insurers to remind you to disclose material facts. Before auto-renewal, any insurer is going to issue a printed renewal notice which will definitely say that it's your duty to tell them about any changes.
Simply because you don't read it, is not an excuse for not disclosing.
And very many insurers DO load for 3 points, especially for younger drivers.0 -

i simply to not believe you. I am however man enough to admit being in the wrong should you prove otherwise in the future:beer:
in the meantime, appreciated if you cut out the personal insults0 -
