https://www.overclockers.co.uk Very good forum and some pretty competitive prices as well.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

There are many websites you could look at using build your own pc or build a computer will give you many results.

If your just looking to build a tower then you first need to pick a case couple of different sizes but just stick to ATX, buy with psu if you like.
Then choose a motherboard go for best you can afford with enough SATA and other ports to match your needs main choice is either Intel or AMD let price decide if unsure.

The board you pick will decide which type of processor (cpu) you can use, you then need to decide on the speed of the processor.
You will then need memory (ram) again type is decided by the board choose your capacity 1GB+ etc.
Then hard drive, graphics card, dvd drive, leads and processor fans etc and of course installing windows or linux and your there.

Plenty of guides online and forums for help, it is straight forward just take your time.

haynes the car manual books sold at halfords , have a couple very informative books, best choce is go to local libary ,you will be amaizedat ammount of books on computers, try it and you will be surprised , and if you realy fancy one ,then buy it cut price on internet, all best zee.
ps if you can chane a lightbulb and replace a fuse ,you can build a computer, ebuyer.co.uk has very fair / good prices and most towers have coolinh fan fitted.
  • 1 more thing...start with a budget, and an idea of what you want the PC for, a gaming rig is different to a DTP one, or a basic emailer .

    (that's 2 things :( )

Ive got a suggestion or a reminder, if you go for a sata hard drive and dvd drive then make sure that A. the 2 come with a sata cable or you buy 2 cables when you buy the hard drive or another piece of hardware, i made the mistake of not checking if my hard drive and dvd drive came with a sata cable, the mobo came with 1 but i needed 2 so i borrowed 1 off a mate

yep, gaming will need a decne t graphics card, which can range form £120 to over £400. Built my own pc's for ages, have not bought a whole pc in one go for about ten years, jsut keep upgrading diffeant bits as i can afford.

Are there any lists about which parts are compatible with other parts? Or can i just change one part and upgrade it with any other make?
