New Jobs at Pontin's

Options
I notice that not even the bulls could bring themselves to post this so I thought I would. I don't want to sound too much like a miserable old bear, but this 'good news' seems as depressing as the lay offs. The only jobs being created seem to be absolute bottom of the rung dead end jobs that offer little reward.

I think about 60% of them are part time as well. Oh and 'Same Difference' (X Factor losers) do the cabaret.

I find something to be gloomy about in all the supposed good news.

Pontins creating 2000 jobs, off what, the anticipation that no one will be going abroad anymore. Last week's good news was Subway opening up hundreds of new outlets... How many independent non-homogenous sandwich shops will that close down?

We have a Pontins nearby at Camber Sands, during the holiday season the Police and fire brigade are down there every Sat evening. Its a tired sad place , the pay and conditions are terrible. When you consider the nearest Police station which is 3 miles away shuts at 5pm and during the season the area 's population increases by 10,000 its a bit of a worry:D having said that, it has to be seen as a good news.........

I mean , the Police and fire services will be on overtime,:T

Dead end, sure. Bottom of the rung, yep. Low paid, definitely.

But for some reason there's still no better place to work if you're an eighteen year old lad ;) The staff definitely shag more than the holidaymakers, and so many lovely european girls work there as barmaids, cleaners and lifeguards :D Good times :)

    Hello Leveller :hello:

I haven't been to Camber Sands for a few years (only a day visitor - never at Pontins!!) but it always seemed a really nice spot! Is it just Pontins which is 'tired' or the whole area? Isn't there a Haven there too?

That reminds me of a Polish guy I know, he worked in the US as a lifeguard but his mate that worked with him couldn't even swim :rotfl:

I was going to post it but I got 'told off' (in a nice jokey way) the last time I started a thread.....it scared me :D

Suppose it didn't help that the thread I posted was bad news though.....

Personally I think it is good news, any new jobs being created in whatever sector in the current climate is plus they may need to take on extra people at Pakefield... my parents have offered to pay for a weeks holiday for us there in the summer!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
