As others have said would you have offered to pay any increase?
I notice that you did say you wouldnt...why did you check the price again?0 -
The poster was only suggesting that Virgin would know better than us what your otions are.

If the cost of oil went up, it would not be unusual for a surcharges to be applied amongst the travel industry, even after booking.
I checked the price as I was curious how pricing may have changed due to oil costs being lower, and glad I did check too.
I find it strange how fellow moneysavers are so hostile towards someone trying to recoup some of the £600 being pocketed by a holiday company.
I dont see anyone critisising Martin for far more aggressive suggestions?0 -
I think, as others have said, that holiday prices do fluctuate, for many different reasons. I can understand why you would be annoyed to find the cost of your holiday had gone down, but I think that's the chance you take.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

that's correct. i was only suggesting that actually calling the people that you booked your holiday with might actually have more idea than people on an internet messageboard!
I'm sorry you took it the wrong way... or you thought it was "hostile" but i was only trying to help and save you some time...0 -
Try calling them, only Virgin can give you answers or options, maybe even email them.
I had a scenario as i was booking a flight/car only holiday to Orlando, as we were 2 families rather than book 7 together we split to a 4 and a 3 and booked the 4 party online first and when we booked the second 3 online within a minute the flights had gone up £20 a head. We couldn't do anything about it because their terms and conditions stated flights my rise and fall due to various conditions.
You may have to put up with it but realistically only Virgin can give you the options and for what it's worth don't be hostile when speaking to them almost apologise for your querie as a softly softly approach my get a sympathetic shoulder.
Good luck0 -

I asked her to extend the holiday by one day and recalculate, but she claimed she could not calculate on todays rates.
This number is supposed to get you through to the Uk call centre :-0844 557 3895. have heard that they are currently diverting some calls from this number to the Indian call centre, if that happens, just say you want to be transferred to the UK centre and they should do it.0 -
Many thanks for the supportive comments towards my post.
As some of you have suggested I only wanted to find out if any fellow moneysavers had managed to gain any savings from the same situation. With £600 at stake, even if you don't get anywhere there is no harm is asking for advice, surely?
Sorry to those who would rather I hadn't asked the question!0 -
Getmeoutofhere - I wouldnt take any notice, seems people are more interested in building up the no. of thanks clicks they get than genuinely helping people for the goodwill of it. You thanked everyone who helped in your one but last post so you need do no more. I myself was interested to hear the outcome and if you spoke to Virgin and whether you got anywhere!!Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0

Dont know if you ever solved this one...see it is also a very old message, but sure you could still claim..anyway, check the Ts & Cs...if they say they might surcharge THEN they also have to give money back if the price drops subject to certain criteria, you can get abta involved as they have a code of conduct in this respect.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
