C&G have a huge backlog - I had to keep chasing and chasing. Took over 3 weeks from the valuation to get an offer. I was getting hassled by solicitors etc. What was worse was that the branch approved it and then it took 2 weeks for head office to print it out!

See the diary I have been keeping!! It took an age as everything was going smoothly and then because my credit was too clean it delayed everything. It boiled down to the regional manager not checking her email!!!! C&G.

well finally got a completion date= 20 feb. so by this time i would be 3 weeks over due from the 28 day repo contract. finally!!
  • I sympathise, my experience with Britannia was always very slow.

They took almost three months to process my first mortgage, and nearly a month to do a remortgage! They then took two months to return £6k when I settled the mortgage, having told me they issued the cheque after ten days!

Their assigned surveyors were lousy and used my estimate of value as theirs! they also conjured up a right of way for our next door neighbours because there was a break in the wall in the front garden!

The only good thing about Britannia was getting the mutual payout!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Well, not sure if it was our brokers or Britannia, but 2 weeks with nothing, then after I rang both Britannia and the broker (the broker several times) I got a request for further information, which has been sent, but now vendors are (understandably) getting edgy - after all, there is no chain, we had mortgage approved in principle, for the amount we finally asked for, but it has been since 21st January. Broker says we should hear in 5 days (surprise, surprise). Lets see how much longer it can take ....

  • i had no chain and its took just over 6 weeks to get a completion date so will take 7 weeks start to finish

Valuation was done on Thursday (19th Feb), I've checked with Britannia that they have everything they need, they were waiting for an employment reference (loving my HR department who didn't bother to do anything with that for 2 weeks), which I have checked has been sent, so now just waiting, waiting, waiting again.

Hopefully not too much longer now (vendor wants to complete 6th March).

  • Abbey are on a slow go too! Again not sure if its broker or Abbey slowing things down but we started our application 6 weeks ago and are still waiting for our documents to to seen by an underwriter apparantly due to Abbey requesting more and more info each week. Hopefully will go to underwriters and arrange valuation next week.
