hi, i had my offer of 140k on a reposession property accepted on 2nd jan 09. i had 28 days to complete which was last friday. they still havent finalised the mortgage! it must be a busy time of yr for them as they keep saying there 2 days behind in work. im on the phone almost everyday to check on status.
what delayed the process even more was that the valuation report they did was incorrect, stating the propert i am buying is a 2 bedroom when its actually a 3 bedroom.
they told me there sending the mortgage agreement out tomorrow (fingers crossed!). hopfully being late on the 28 day completion wont cause any problems with the reposession!!
has anyone else had to wait this long to get a mortgage.
btw im only buying not selling (ftb)

Have you been in touch with the people your buying off? Is it an estate agent selling the repo?
Out of interest how much did you knock them down to get it for 140k?0 -
i have been in touch with my estate agents as they got a call from the solicitors who are selling the repo.
it was on for 160k got it for 140k0 -
Britannia took just over two months to sort ours out just before Christmas so you are not alone...0

I am a FTB and dont have any experience either. However I wouldnt worry too much as your an ideal buyer for a repo so they wont be too worried so long as they are kept updated as to what is going on. I am hoping to do the same and knock 20k off a repo's advertised price

Hi,
SNAP I bought a £140k repo just before Xmas and got my mortgage through Britannia. I was warned right at the beginning by my solicitor that they were quite an old school company and might be slow.
We'd ring them and they'd say it was fine and progressing then they'd suddenly decide they wanted more info etc. Then like you the Valuation was wrong (assumed freehold when we told them it was leasehold!)
Just keep on and on at them, in the end (about 25 days) we got a bit harsh on the phone with one of the advisor and 'miraculously' the offer landed on the table the next day.
We also had problems with the other sides solicitors but that's another story.
Good Luck0 -
I too am having trouble with Chelt&Glos!! does anyone know if they are slow??0

well now its thursday and still NO they havent issued the offer yet, how hard can it be? every day i ring they say it will be posted to me special delivery y lie? now there saying it will be completed tomorrow morning then faxed to my solicitors by lunch time. we will see.................
(now a week over due on the 28 day exchange for a repo)!0 -
we applied for a Britannia mortgage, they said there was a backlog and it would take longer than the estimated 5-7 days, they said we could have less than we asked for in 7 days, we asked them to reconsider, and it has again been 7 working days. Now wishing we had just said yes to the first offer and not planned to redo the kitchen straight away.I refuse to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent:rolleyes:0

i have even told them at the beginning that we have a 28 day window. today i told them were a week over due and are in risk of loosing the property so hopefully tomorrow is the day they finish it but im not getting my hopes up as they have told me this all week long!0

My brother and his girlfiend are waiting for a mortgage offer from C&G. The survey was done 3 weeks ago and no offer yet. I have heard that they have a back log and also that some people were off this week due to the snow.0
