Not sure whether it applies to all tax offices, but I spoke to one yesterday about another matter, but did mention the subject. Her reply was that they were aiming to have them all completed by the end of the month. Fingers crossed to all.0

Hi All,
l posted mine about a week before the deadline and l know they recieved it because l'd written a cheque for my daughters college, she went to take it in but could'nt find it. She'd put it in an envelope on the table, then went out. Not realising l used the same envelope to put my tax letter in!!!
They very kindly sent it back to me, so thats how l know they got it!!!0 -

I sent my form off on the 22nd January and have just received this letter on the 13th Feb.
"Thank You for your claim to Children's Tax Credit for the year 2002-03 in respect of your child born on 24th October 2002.
I regret i cannot amend your Self Assessment Tax Return for that year as the time limit for an amendment for that year has expired.
However , you may wish to make a claim for relief under Section 33 TMA 1970.
You should make your claim in writing stating that you wish to make the claim under Section 33 TMA 1970 for the year 2002-03."
I've wrote them a letter and will be sending it recorded delivery just in case it takes them a month to open it.I'll post when i get a reply.0 -

me too not heard anything yet and am getting annoyed with myself that maybe I should have sent a 2nd one incase they didnt receive it, does anyone have a phone number for them? 0 -
The telephone number is the tax office where your records are held. If the children's father was the higher earner in 2002/2003 and lived with you as part of the family, then it will be the tax office where his records are held.0

Just had a lettter dated 9 March 2009 and we are not eligible for anything back - I have been told my husband got the relief through his tax code!! ALSO anyone who also claimed for 2001/02 on the same form as 2002/03 (as the form allowed you to do) BE AWARE - the claim for 2001/02 had to be in to the tax office by 31 Jan 2008!!! NOT 2009 as lots of people were lead to belief. I am disgusted, as I was not aware that you could claim this until Jan 2009 and that was by word of mouth. How is it that these people do not have to tell you when they owe you money, yet we soon here from then when we haven't paid them enough.....0

It was on the moneysavingexpert site that I first saw the article about claiming child tax credit relief before the Jan. deadline. I sent a form to the tax people and today I got a letter AND a cheque for £600.Many thanks for the advice.0
