nokia 6610i & new sim card
With browntoa's help I have unlocked my phone but it will not recognise a new sim card. Re-tried unlocking code & message says phone was not restricted but entered pin for new card & message says call not allowed.
Any ideas please...........
Thanks
PS This could make a big difference - on the front of the phone it is a 6610i
but inside it says in extra tiny print 66101...................

which sim is it? does it come with cash on or do you need to top up, we had some o2 cards that the gran children needed to top up before they would register.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

if it was locked it would say "unlock" or "incorrect sim" or similar when you put a different sim in.
as it says phone was not restricted means it is now unlocked
does the sim work ok in another phone?0 -
It is a worldwide sim card in credit. It's a bit difficult to try it on another phone as everyone I know has a locked phone so I would have to gets there's unlocked first. Anyway to check the phone.........0

It could well use a band that isn't supported by your phone but probably not likely because I think the 6610i is a 'world phone'.
What I would do is try some other sims (beg, steal, borrow
) and see what happens. It could well be something to do with the SIM rather than the phone. 0 -
Tried a payg vodaphone card - it did not recognise it - just said to insert sim card.....................0

sounds like phone or sim reader is faulty
try cleaning the contacts on sim reader make sure you have got sim in right way round as its easy to put in with angle corner in wrong place0 -
No luck with cleaning contacts. Could I really have a odd phone that only knows Orange.............because I have been told that sim cards are rarely faulty..............0
