I have eaten goat in Africa and It's not Baaaaahed at all being tender less fatty than a lot of meat and has a good flavour.
I did not know you could get it in the UK will have to a search online.

There are online retailers, though they might be pretty expensive. I live in Birmingham, so there are usually plenty of butchers and meat markets selling it, I should ask them really why it is thin on the ground.

I love lamb, I love goat too, however goat is thin on the ground, is this due to the time of year?

Don't think so, I got some from my local market (Leeds) at the weekend.

Thanks. I'll try again this weekend, maybe they had just all sold out the last few times I went, as it is very popular here.

Yes it is, it is only while stocks last I think. so if your aldi hasn't any, it's probably because it has sold out. Don't add any gravy, that which you get with the shank is OHHHHHHHHHH!

Incidently, when our daughter was due to return to the UK from her stint in the Falklands and coincidently with her fiance, they both requested their first meal was Aldi lamb shanks.

they look nice....suitable for this weather
    onwards and upwards
  • I bought some yesterday and had them for tea last night.
    YUMMY :T
The gravy is very nice and enough for two people, which is something that I haven't found with other stores lamb shanks.
I alos bought the duck legs in plum and chilli sauce and some pork shanks in an onion sauce  These were the same price as the lamb shanks.
Never seen these anywhere else, before. Has anyone tried them yet?

Did anyone see Gordon ramsay the other night-the restaurant using pre packed lamb shanks and charging £12 for them?
