Don't know when it happened to you or what the rules where at the time but that is what it is now.
If it was me i would be looking at trying to claim some money back if they messed up.
When did this change? My hubby and I temporarily seperated last year, he went back into the block for a month, I stayed in the mq. We payed for both straight away and for his mess food, even though he didnt eat there once as we were told it was included in the sla rates.0 -
When my OH was on IMLC at Halton he paid Halton mess bill for his room and PAYD for his food.
The Mess Bill raised for the room at Haltom was a maintainance charge for the Mess and not an accommodation charge. This small fee is payable at every Mess you stay in as a visitor and varies depending on where you are, in my experience it has range from 5p a night to £1.50. Subtle but they are not one and the same. I think you can claim the charge back but I dont know anyone that has.0 -

If you want to query it, it is all laid down in JSP 464, Part 1, Section V, Paragraph 0815.0 -

I don't think you can claim the mess element back as you have to pay a mess bill every month whether it be at your own unit or your attached unit. You have to pay for the mess until the day you leave. We have guys whinge about this all the time.... why should they pay when they're on terminal leave, etc.....Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680 -

You can take the mess bill to your mess and they should take it off your mess bill (own unit)If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
You shouldn't have your own unit mess bill as you should warn out when going on a course.
You still have to pay subs at your own mess as your still a member of that mess......hence why when you finish the course you take the mess bill back to your own mess and they take it off your mess bill.....If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

The way we work it, if you are at another mess staying - ie Halton on a course then you warn out of our mess and so pay no mess bills to us whilst you're attached to Halton, you only pay Halton mess bill and PAYD.Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680
