Help! Do I need all this?

Hi,

I'm trying to free up some space on my pc as I keep getting the low memory thing popping up.
In the add & remove progams, I have all of this:

whatisthis10qm.gif

&

whatisthis27bg.gif

do I need all of these??! I don't know why there are so many.
I thought I would ask someone who might know here whether this is all necessary before I go deleting it all!

Thanks for any help.

They dont update over each other more of a side by side....

The only things you should remove are actual programs..

Also try https://www.ccleaner.com to free up some space.

Looks like you don't have Service Pack 2 installed. I think it introduced grouping of the updates. There should be a checkbox at the top saying "show updates". Is worth installing SP2 if you haven't done so already.

Jolly Good Show Old Boy....
  • thanks, the trouble is that everytime i try to install the update it tells me i don't have enough disc space & to try & free some up. i've freed up as much as i can, i've uninstalled loads of things, i don't really know why it's gotten so low [though i do have a lot of music on there!] so that's why i wondered if i could uninstall some of those updates so that i could then install the latest updates.

Start, My Computer, click how much diskspace is left? For XP.

If not a lot how many music tracks have you got as I expects its that...(maybe)
  • about ccleaner, the last time i used that [not sure if you remember - it was in a thread a while back on here] it really messed up my computer & i had to go back & undo the history of what it had taken off

Thats a new one on me...

Sure you didnt do a registry scan by mistake.
  • i have 397mb free disc space
    total size 27.9 GB

I don't know what happened with the ccleaner, i don't think i did a registry scan it just seemed to erase something which i needed & someone on here told me i had to go back & undo the history. once i did that it worked fine again.

speaking of things going funny...is it just me or have the boards just gone funny looking?
