British Gas Inspection

Hi,
I've just applied to join British Gas Homecare Flexxi Plan and have been told that they will be calling round in two weeks to inspect the central heating system and do the first service.
I just wondered what type of things they look for on the inspection, as far as I'm aware everythings working fine but the boiler does take a couple of attempts to light sometimes, we also do have thermostate controls missing on a couple of the rads, will this be a problem?
Thanks

Hi
It depends on the terms of your plan.
General inspections are usually safety checks to make sure your system is not dangerous and is working efficiently. A service can be more detailed and may involve actual work on your boiler or central heating particularly if there is a fault.
What is covered by your plan will be detailed in the documents you should have received after you signed up. I would check these.
Some plans cover just labour whilst others include parts and labour.
Engineers should advise what parts need replacing before they do so particularly if you are paying. Ask why they need to be replaced.
If you are still unsure call BG Homecare department and ask exactly what your particular plan covers. Their number will also be on any documents you may have received.“Official Company Representative

They usually will not accept your system if it does not meet their criteria e.g. faulty boiler or even an ancient system that they feel will be uneconomic for them to cover.0

they are notorius for trying to get you to change your boiler/ heating system... by telling you that your current system doesnt meet their criteria and that they cant get parts for your boiler .... be wary of this ... particularly in such "lean" times .... you should also be wary of these policies anyway ... if you took ... for example £30 and saved it (instead of giving to brittish gas ) thats £360 minimum per year you have saved or could put a rainy day account .... by paying brittish gas for a peace of mind contract you might not b actually saving any thing at all.NSD = 3/31 spent = £97.88/31 groceries = £26/31 fuel =2/31
