Electric heaters v nsh

Hi there need your advice/help please. Have read all posts on all electric heating but help still needed.
Currently on E7 nsh sorry can't give you usage not even approx, however really more interested in heating appliance types. Basically would like more control over our heating. Both at work all day home in early evening, nsh wasting heat when no one there. Advice on other types of heaters that I can control as and when required also would it be possible to run them on E7 or E10 believe that E10 has more of a split in the times the cheap rates come on/off.

Thanks

E10 gives you a cheaper 10 hour period and E7, 7 hours. Both during the night (when demand isn't so high), so that's the only time you could use heating with them.

Storage heaters are supposed to charge during this cheaper period over night and release the heat later. In reality, they're normally pretty rubbish.

I'm no expert, but the best thing is to reduce the heat requirement 1st. Insulate and draught bust. Once you're well insulated and air tight, you'll need a lot less heat from whatever you choose.

ASHP's (Air Source Heat Pump) look like they might be the new heater of choice . They're basically air con units that can also run in reverse to put heat into a building, rather than remove it. There's a thread on here about it. Might be worth a read. Some people seem to be getting very impressive results from them (Usually electric heaters require 1 unit of electricity to provide 1 unit of heat, so the type is irrelevant, but ASHPs can produce greater returns).
