How much do they cost to run?
our house did have a garage and it's been coverted to a study but the room is always cold dispite having a radiator in there. i think we may need to bleed it or something.
i was thinking of buying a nice looking plug in heater for the room. we won't use it except when we are in there using the pc or hubby on his playstation.
any advice??
thanks

Heating with an electric heater is about the most expensive way to provide heat.
It depends in the size of the heater(and your tariff) what they cost to run.
Many heaters have 3 bars which are normally 1 kW each. So they will cost approx 7/14/21 pence an hour to run depending on how many bars you are using.
It obviously would be cheaper to bleed the radiator! Or, depending how much you use the study, get a bigger radiator.0 -

They are only cheaper to run in that they, generally, are lower powered and thus produce less heat.
The advantage of halogen heaters is that they radiate heat, so someone sitting in front of the heater gets most of the heat directed at them. Thats why they are often used in unheated bathrooms or when working in(private)garages.
However all forms of electrical heating are virtually 100% efficient so you get the heat you pay for.0
