Took out new contract with O2 a year ago, 100 crossnet minutes & 100 Texts for £25 per month. Have just rung them to say I want to cancel contract & switch to PAYG or another network. I was asked if I had looked at a specific price plan from another network, so I just happened to mention the Orange Direct Plan at £20 per month for same minutes and texts. She told me that I was entitled to a £5 discount on my existing plan as I had been there for a year (wouldn't have got it automatically) which reduced my price plan to the same cost as the Orange one. In addition, if I kept my existing phone instead of upgrading, they would credit my account immediately with £100 effectively giving me 5 months free line rental!
This is the first time I have tried to reduce my monthly mobile phone costs as I usually get talked into upgrading my phone and taking out a more expensive price plan for the benefit of a phone that I only use 50% of its functions on!
Roll on next year! :T

Iv'e just done exactly the same thing last night (see my post "Brilliant result from 02") I got 200 anytime xnet minutes and 500 texts for £15 a month. I didn't want the handset offered so took the £100 credit too.
I did think of getting it and selling it on e!bay but I think selling mobiles on e!bay is too much hassle.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
