My small dog used to get smelly very quickly even by the next day after a bath.
The vet told me it was because of his nervous poodle breed mix. I tried all the usual dog and baby shampoos but most just made it worse to be honest even the medicated ones.
I now use a shampoo called Deocare shampoo. Its for pets and I bought it online from www.nutrecare.co.uk.
I have noticed a BIG difference since I started using it and highly recommend it. his black coat looks lovely too.

    Hope this helps

My Parson Russell never smells (unless he rolls in fox/cow/horse poo) but my border terrier is a smelly little devil. Apparently it is a trait with male borders. I use a coal tar shampoo.

I use DOUBLE K - Griminator :j Its the best shampoo I've found for my breed.
I then give him a creme rinse then apply conditioner.
It takes upto 3 hours plus to bath and blow him off.
The best thing I've found or was recommended was a blower for keeping my boys coat in A1 condition. They are wonderful.

Glad shes been given the clean bill of health. Believe it or not D.O can be the first signs of many an illness with a dog so its always best to get a check up before going along the hide and disguise route.

One other thing that can make dogs smell more then you might like is diet. Highly precessed treats are the biggest culprits. My dog absolutely mings if fed denta sticks or those marrow bone thingys made by the same company. If you do feed those it may be worth stopping them a while see if theres an improvement

I was just going to say about diet! Rolo was BARF fed originally - no problems. We then had her on a stores own food. Bad breath and Doggy smell like you wouldn't believe. Switched her to burns and she's fine again.

  • I'd recommend the Pet Head range, (although only tried 1 shampoo (Life's an Itch) and 1 conditioner (So Spoiled), they are from the Bed Head TIGI - the human shampoo company in most High Street Salons. They smell great compared to the shampoos I've tried from Supermarkets and also although more expensive seem to be better value as they are bigger bottles and lather better. Got mine from Amazon after reading a review of them in one of the dog magazines last year.

I get shampoo from Burns along with my dog food. I got the soap orginally but now use the shampoo and it seems to do the job. She seems to prefer the shampoo though. I only wash her about every 6-8 weeks just when she smells a bit ripe.
