They range from £200 - £1000 so mine is mid range although I have seen the higher end ones used commercially despite not being designed for that. Wasn't specifically looking for lifestyle advice however.Brooker_Dave wrote: »The brooker household makes do with a spoon and a jar of gold blend.
Of course if the spoon ever fails I'll be back to the shop to demand compensation!
Ah, well - there's no accounting for taste, I still slum it when I'm in a rush
I reckon you'll be OK with the spoon, it's unlikely to fail to do what it was designed for nor trip your electrics ...... that is, unless the stirrer is feeling suicidal :rolleyes:0 -

..oh how I envy people who can afford gold blend....0 -
Thing is ..... if you look at it from the perspective that I've had two of the machines over a two year period you'd sort of get to thinking they are defective. A £450 appliance in my experience should last 4-5 years.
I spoke to Debenhams and they no longer stock the model [although I saw it at the local store at the weekend]. They confirmed they would take the matter up with Krups and get back to me with some options tomorrow.
Their preferred option was to replace - which, if they can, I'd be happy with!
What if you have to use special filters,or descale them and they become faulty through misuse?0 -

As mine does - but it has a digital display telling you when to do what and also has a record of what has been done when. I have complied in every way for that reason. Nothing to hide here if the manufacturer wants to strip it down and diagnose the issue
Cleaining, descaling, changing the filter - it's a laugh a minute but worth it0 -
The op has a legal right for the goods to be fit for purpose and to last a reasonable amount of time, so why are soem posters being harsh? Op stand up for your rights, if Debenhams don't come back with a reasonable solutions try consumer direct they are easy to get hold of, and really knowledgeable. Good luck0

You can't just buy something and then years later demand a full refund when it breaks.
In your world everything is free.
Err in my world, nothing is free.
It is not a lifetime moneyback guarantee. If you actually read the post, the primary remedy is for damages for repair or replacement.
It is not "years" later in this case at all anyway.0 -
