Hi looking for abit of advice i know ive had a loan from northern rock and i know it had ppi on it as i remember been told it was part and parcel of loan ,i have shredded all old agreements but checked back on my online banking and i had a direct debit coming out in 2004 from loansdirect is this likely to be northern rock and if it is does anyone have an address for them please Thanks Sunny
the only address I can come up with is loans direct uk ltd - their address is :

    81 Dane Road
    Sale
    Cheshire
    M33 7BP

as the loan was sold prior to 2005 I would suggest that when you put in your complaint you also ask for a copy of the agreement as you won't be able to complain to the Financial Ombudsman service about the mis selling but you maybe able to make a complaint about the underwriters - so you'll need the agreement to find who the underwriters are

    Hi
    Was this the final decision?
If not write back until you receive the final response which should if eligible give details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Good luck and keep at them.;)
not necessarily - when did you take out the loan / credit card ?

    Hi Sunny

I checked on Companies house search here:
    http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/28eb88019591a29f7270328b440634c8/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
When writing loans direct some came up as D for Dissolved, so no longer active.
But because there are so many it can be confusing.
If you did have any paperwork with the company number then all you would have to do is write in the number in the box for the right one to come up.

Another way is to ring Companies house, there are contact details on the link.
If your unable to make a reclaim from them in case its these who have dissolved then pursue with the insurer/underwriter instead.

Hopefully someone will have more info on these for you and post up shortly. Fingers crossed.;)
hi di Thanks im pretty sure the loan was with northern rock i know i applied to northern rock and ive got the account no from my online bank (Direct debit going out )
It just threw me when it said loans direct  Thanks anyway

They havent outright said it was their final decision, just that they are declining and if I'm unhappy about the decision i should refer my concerns to the FOS, Credit card was taken out March 04

hi, may not be using the forum correctly, however i will try. my PPI agreement with firstplus states that i may be intitled to a full refund after 5 years if i do not make a claim, would i be better to wait to the end of the 5 year period ( which is next year) or try a claim against being mis sold the insurance, hope you can help
hi jaywalker. you will be better off going for mis sell, as di says these front loaded policys are a rip off. if you wait for the 5 years payout, you will get the ppi back BUT that amount of ppi will still be on your loan that you will pay for the remaining term of the loan with interest( its not rocket science to work out how much extra that will cost you) if you want to do it that way you can but if you win mis sell now the whole ppi amount will be wiped off and you will get back all the ppi monthly payments you have made to date back plus 8% ,you will save each month what you have been paying for ppi, and your loan balance will reduce by the total ppi amount, if you ask for a settlement figure in future, it will be more favourable to you as the thousands you should have paid in ppi will have been wiped off. if you take the ppi payout at the end of five years, any settlement figure you ask for will show the ppi total still on. that is why the ppi from fp is a total rip off, and you will have to take some other form of insurance to cover the loan as after 5 years your insurance is no longer valid but you pay it for the remaining term plus interest!!! sorry if i have confused you but fp make me so angry i could spit lol

    :(

Well I got another letter back from Halifax customer relations, and it dont look good, they have rejected my complaint on the grounds that it was a 'Non-Advised Sale' ie as i had applied via the internet I basically should have realised this insurance was included and they attached a copy of the signed agreement so im guessing thats me goosed :(

hi there, i won with 2 internet loans with nr, they said the same as the reply you have. go to the fos with this, i used the fact that there was no way i ticked the ppi box as i didnt need ppi, also on 1 of the agreements the ppi was not ticked (do you have the original agreements?) and i did not recieve ppi documents in the post to look over and so was not given the 14 days period to cancel this, give it a go you never know till you try!

    Your very welcome.;)

    Hi everyone

Having had some success reclaiming myself I have been encouraging my brother to do the same. He did not have any paper work so we went to the back and got the account numbers from the loans he has had over the last 12 yrs. To his horror there were 12 seperate loans and accounts all running after each other with the halifax consolidation loans . (the final one would you believe 24%apr)He has definitely been miss sold ppi on these. My question is when we are reclaiming do we send in just one letter with all the acc no on or a different template letter for each one ?

    Hi hun

    Wow what a lot..........

If all for the same reasons, then one letter is fine, otherwise yes separately, just remember to write all the account numbers to each reclaim.;)
    Good luck X

Hiya tiggrae, mostly the underwriters are not on the actual agreement but they are on the PPI documents terms and conditions and policy. Maybe its better to request the PPI policy etc just in case as well.
