Hi, I'm new to this, have sent off the first stage letter to reclaim PPI from HFC bank (already fined by FSA). received a response to my complaint within a week, which says that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the issues i have raised and they will get back to me. i also received a leaflet about their complaints procedure, but its pretty evasive and doesn't give any timescales to responses to customers.
I'm not sure what stage i'm at now, possibly step 1? how long should i wait for them to come back to me? should i write to them again? Is there anyone on this forum that has reclaimed from HFC successfully?

You have to give the firm 8 weeks since first complaining and then you have the option of taking this to the FOS. They usually write back first stating they have not missold but usually give you the opportunity to write back. If they do this then write back, reiterate your complaint and hope they come round to your way of thinking.;)
  • have some news a little late in the night I know but just wanted to share it. hubby phoned me at work today to say we had received a letter from the Halifax - they are reducing the loan by £247.64 which is the amount due so this will reduce my loan which is fine.

I phoned the number he gave me and spoke to the lady and she advised the other two loans were being dealt with tooand letters were posted yesterday she said the first one smaller loan was refund of premium £211.03 plus interest £45.52 compensation at 8% = £88.20 total amount £344.76.

Second one £960.87 refund of interest £196.45 and compensation 8% £405.82 total £1563.14

Total amount to come via cheque is £1907.90.

So am very happy with the outcome lol :T and thanks to everyone on here for their advice and help and support its really appreciated x:beer:

Well done - no wonder you can't sleep. All the waiting must seem worth it when you get the good news.

So the first one is being used against the debt(which seems fair enough to me). This may help others to see how this is done and then the others (which you settled anyway) are being paid over to you, which again seems very fair. You have actually been deprived of this money and you repaid their debts in full.

    Well done.
  • Hello all

Just wondering if i could ask you all a question.

A few years ago (under 6) my husband and I took a loan out from Norton who got us the loan from Endeavour Personal Finance.

We got a loan for 14,000 over 25 years and for the PPI they pay out a lump sum to the insurance company but add that amount to your loan so we were in effect paying back 17,640 over 25 years.

We paid off the loan early, (about a year later) and ended up paying 17,251. At the time we had no idea why we were paying 3 grand more than what we got.

I have just received all the paper work from them now and found that they had in effect charged us for the amount of the PPI too, even though we didn't use it all???!!! There is nothing in the terms and conditions that we'd have to pay this bit back, its just about the loan amount.

Has anyone got any thoughts on this and do you think we can claim this back? We only have until January as by that time it will be 6 years.

    thanks all
    Leila
