thanks but everyone should understand that not every "tom !!!!!! or harry" can sell a fincancial services product without being licenced. Therefore, shop staff for example if not licenced are acting illegally and to that end as they did not have a licence to sell the product, the contract is not binding
Completely with you there. Think what pickles people could have been saved from if the law was tougher on the mischief makers!0 -

I know but someone selling a financial services product without a licence can be prosecuted, worth mentioning it to the company whose staff sold this to you0 -
Hi,
Received a letter yesterday with the following offer from Halifax:-
Refunds of premiums £2914.38
Interest at 8 % £2562.09
Total £5476.47
I have asked Halifax to provide a breakdown of the calculations (I have tried but I can’t match their figures!!!) the cheque is supposed to be with me by 4/11/11.

Only action that I took was to complete the payment protection insurance consumer questionnaire and sent it off with a covering letter on 22/6/11. Justification for claiming: - my employee provided the same benefits as would be provided if I claimed under PPI.
It was only after checking out this thread that I decided to go forward with a claim. Thanks for the encouragement/help that the “regulars” on this thread provide – it is very much appreciated.:j:j:j:j:j0 -
If you can prove they took money for a PPI AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY PAPERWORK, Its a PLUS PLUS FOR YOU
Hi Beamerguy!
I gave them a call and managed to actually get through after 5 hours (not an exaggeration!)
they apparently couldnt locate my loan, but now have and will reply to me within 56 days ( 25th of November! )
This was a really old Loan, (1999 paid off in 2002) so I will be suprised if I get anywhere!
I have Natwest Cards (same years) Halifax, Sky Card, Capital One and Vanquis to go yet!!
Wish me luck :rotfl:0 -
Hi folks,
I had a credit card with Capital One which had the PPI.
When I completed the application form I remember that I didn't want the PPI so I left this part of the application blank.
I just located an old statement which had showed that I was being charged for PPI.
I contacted Capital One & explained the situation & requested for the PPI to be refunded, they replied & confirmed that I didn't request the PPI on the application form in 2002 (which they provided me a copy of) but that I purchased the PPI during a telephone conversation 18 months after I took out the credit card.
Now I can't remember this phone call but I can't imagine myself phoning them to purchase the PPI, any suggestions what I should do?
Should I contact them for a copy of this phone call?
Many Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
Eamon
OMG!! Vanquis tried this one on me too! I queried a couple of years ago why I was paying PPI, and they said I had called and asked for it?!!
I am getting on to them about this now0 -

Just hit these greedy monkeys below the belt, getting tough is the only thing they know about. By the way, Skycard was an offshoot of Barclays and they offered Sky customers a Barclaycard when they closed Skycard. Don't take any rubbish from Capital One, they will try whatever measure to fob you off0 -
Hi all,
This is my first post although I have been following the boards and using them for information for a while now.
I've had success with Blackhorse reclaiming PPI although most of it was used against arrears!! I've recently sent off for HSBC for a credit card and loan so fingers crossed I've received a letter telling me that I will hear from then in up to 12 weeks.
I'm just thinking about reclaiming from my old credit cards with Capital One and Vanquis but not sure if I can and wondered if anyone could give me some advice. Capital One is all paid off now but they did have to chase me for payment and send my account to debt collectors does this matter? and I'm not sure about Vanquis as I still owe them money and have done since 2008 but they've stopped chasing me I'm guess I'm best leaving this one alone until it rears it's ugly head again.0 -
