lennygambo wrote: »Morning all,
I've sent off all my details regarding the loans I've had with HSBC in order for me to claim PPI so just waiting for a response.
I previously had a Barclaycard which never really exceeded £1000, this is all now closed with full balance paid off.
How would I go about reclaiming PPI on this & also I have a HSBC Credit card which ive had for over 10 years the balance sometimes exceeded £3K and others times been relatively small.
Just wondering if there is any template forms etc to use for these cards, I dont have any details of the Barclaycard unless I was to ring the bank etc but with regards to the HSBC card i still have this and am able to print off the last 6 months statements.
Any help would be appreciated
Hi and good luck.;)
Right, you can still make a reclaim, it makes no difference if the account is settled or not.
You always write to the ones who arranged and set up the finance.
On Martin's guidelines of reclaiming for stage one there is a questionnaire, complete this and keep a copy in case you need to refer to it later on, or in case you go as far as the financial ombudsman service (FOS), where they would require a copy as well.
Check this out here for the procedures of reclaiming:

Its up to you if you want to write a cover letter and ask them to refer to the questionnaire, and you expect to hear from them by 8 weeks, then mention if your not satisfied with the final outcome you will consider taking your complaint to the FOS.
Before the Questionnaires came into affect (as these are recently new issued by the FOS), there were template letters, but personally I would write in your own words, however, to make sure nothing is missed, and if you do want to do a cover letter, then check this out here to help you through:

You should be able to print off banking statements to what I know of going back 6 years, some banks even to earlier years.
Post your complaint by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, good luck with this.

Just spoke to Lloyds about my credit card PPI refund - apparently it takes a month (!) to do the calculation and another five days after that to pay me the money!!!
Will just have to wait a bit longer to book that holiday0 -
THanks Di your an absolute star
I dont have the policy number for HSBC card only all the card details, and looked on the statement and cant find anything
With regards to the Barclaycard I dont have any details so would it be a matter of phoning them to ask for my information. Its been closed for like 3 years0 -

Good luck, we received ours about 28 days after they received our acceptances via LLoyds.
Well done though.:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
Your very welcome.
I would check any old banking statements, because just as long as you have the account number you can still give it a shot.
The card details should be okay.;)
I would though as well in regards of Barclays, if you can either call in at the branch or ring them, they should hold info anyway for at least 6 years.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi guys,
I wrote to LLoyds about a year ago and they sent the standard 'you signed the form so youre screwed' letter, but I recently found the name of the person who advised me over the phone that I needed to take the PPI otherwise I couldnt get the loan. Is it worth now writing again and asking them to reconsider or have I missed the boat because they answered the complaint so long ago?
NB. Loan was taken out Feb 2006 and the LPI amounted to approx £2,500
Cheers.

Hi Mark
Did you receive a final decision from them?
If not then write back and tell them you have found new evidence to support your complaint but would like to give them another opportunity to look into this, as the FSA takes dim views on rejected genuine complaints.
Its worth a shot.
If this fails the explain to the FOS and ask is there any way they can help.

They said that they 'considered the matter closed' but for the sake of £2,500 it's worth writing again I suppose. I'll send them a letter asking them to review it again, prior to asking the Ombudsman for their help.
Thanks for the advice.0
