End of an era

I've been noticing recently how little there is to say anymore on this board. Not to say that there aren't some interesting comments and postings, but in general, the quality of posting and argument seems to have gone down hill since we became our own board. You find yourself going round in circles, saying the same thing and having the same arguments hurled back at you.

I know it was like this pre-2009, but somehow, it's all changed. Lots of regulars have disappeared or only pop up once in a while. It's a shame, I miss them, and I think the quality of the board has suffered as a result. And where the hell is SquatNow? His last appearance was last year in his petition against a BTL bailout - he hasn't been taken by masked men has he? !!!!!!? hardly posts now - what's the point. He just gets abuse for the sake of it.

And about the threads....well. At least three of the same subject pop up at once, all saying the same things, all having the same arguments. There seems to be an unwritten contest too, who can scour the news and get the boring article, saying the same things again, on the forum, so they get the thanks! And the trolls - OMG - Islandannie... offensive, ignorant and nothing to contribute. She (it's) not the only one....

I suppose it's possible to talk about a thing too much. However elaborate our views may be, they are only so voluminus, and can only fill so much space. I for one am tired of saying the same thing, getting abused or misunderstood, trying ot clarify and realising, there's no point in clarifying, it doesn't matter how clear it is, you'll getthe same rhetoric back at you.

Anyway, rant over. I think i'm just bored of the recssion and this board. And for the record, I still do not think it will end next month. Since realising i'm bored of it, I have discovered that there's actually some amazing other boards on here, like MoneySaving OldStyle. I recommend it to everyone, but don't bring the trash from board over :rotfl:

Made me chuckle that,, your right though. Don't they say familiarity breeds contempt?.Since joining the board (long time lurker) I do think its helped me with my spelling,i'm looking up so many words in the dictionary now

Leveller, it might have helped with your spelling, but context is important too. Your in this context should have been you're (abbreviation for 'you are').

Leveller, it might have helped with your spelling, but context is important too. Your in this context should have been you're (abbreviation for 'you are').

Thankyou iolanthe, one step at a time eh? Give me a year or so and I will be up to doing joined up writing.:rotfl: I only have the "Collins Gem dictionary" there are so many words posted on here that aren't in it.

Conflict

Nothing is happening though, hence there is nothing to talk about. It always goes like this sudden unexpected events cause everyone to panic (lots of discussion) then a lull then another unexpected event.

Just give it time theres lots of things could happen and soon enough this board will be full of useful talk again. This is going to be a long year.

Before the recession and house price drops really kicked into reality, there was plenty of meat on the table to fead both bulls and bears. Now there is little left for the bears and no one wants to come to a board where everybody agrees on everything and repatition is the name of the game.

Good debates that were beleivable from either side happened before but now the only squabling is about how long the recession will go on, and that is getting tired pretty quick too.

The forum may as well just gather cobwebs until things reverse and it's a more level playing field!

Also, that should be 'I'm'.

To be honest, I have a bloddy cheak as I can't spel four [strike]tofe[/strike] [strike]tofee [/strike]toffe :D
