  • It is worth remembering that if you are on a strict budget you are not usually in a position to buy items of food that will not be delivered for two to three weeks.

Good point; and people in *real* financial difficulties often don't have a credit/debit card, so couldn't use such a service anyway.

And even those that *can* order may find it difficult to scrape together enough money to purchase enough to make the postage cost worthwhile.

Then there's the further problem that those having to feed children on a very tight budget may face severe difficulties if the food delivery they expected in a week actually takes three weeks. I wonder if people would change their forgiving attitude here if it was found that children have gone hungry because of delivery delays?

Who said I wasn't on a strict budget. If you are, you plan ahead ... big time. It's the only way to survive or you go hungry.

Having been on a very strict budget myself in the past, there was no way there would be spare money to plan ahead - bigtime.

There was not enough money to look further than the week ahead and if I had placed an order with AF in the belief I only had to wait a week and that turned into two or three weeks it would have been financially devastating.

This is turning into an absolute nonsense.

Decker clearly has it in for AF. Stated he has problems but refused to contact them and keeps resurrecting stuff on here ... what are you expecting?

I've been called a 'stooge,' and a 'coward,' (which incidentally I really don't believe I've ever been called before) and then objects to people being 'rude' to him.

I've been told my asparagus didn't arrive, that I've had to phone/email/etc and then it's come covered in sauce - a complete fabrication.

If Decker actually wants to see AF closed down, then it looks like he will probably get it.

Hope you're already with the 'thank-you,' button.

There are valid points on both sides of this discussion. For some people the problems do not outweigh the benefits, so they are happy to wait and get the savings, I would probably put myself in this category, if items don't come, or get delayed, I just go and buy them elsewhere. It isn't a problem for me as at the moment I have a husband who can drive and plenty of shops within a 20 minute journey! :p
On the other hand, as one poster said way back in the old thread, they were on a tight budget and had only a limited amount of money for food, yes the savings were there, yes they wanted to take advantage of them, but they simply could not wait 2-3 weeks at that point for delivery, as they had no other money to buy food in the meantime. :(
So I guess what I am saying is that some people can balance out the bad points with the good points and come out generally happy and satisfied, but other people are not able to do this for various reasons.
On a 1-100 scale I would say that most of us here, whether we have complained or not, are around 50-75% satisfied, with everything taken into account. I don't think anyone is 100% satisfied with every order, maybe some are 99%, :p but also there is nobody who can say they are truthfully 0% satisfied, when taking into account the money saved.
We all just have to find our own personal balance of what we can accept and what we can't. Also as I said before it is easy to make excuses for a while, maybe for a few months people will accept reasons given for problems and be tolerant. Sure we can all make mistakes, with hindsight we are all a lot wiser! As to how long that tolerance will last, for the majority, is somewhat debatable. ;)

"If Decker actually wants to see AF closed down, then it looks like he will probably get it."

Why do you say that? Are you privy to something that something Dan has told only you?
  • p.s. as per #462

"...if you do have any 'allegations' against anyone may I remind you this site is not the place to be making them."
  • No, I am NOT!

Get it and get it good. I HAVE NO INVOLVEMENT WITH AF OTHER THAN AS A CUSTOMER.

This is a suggestion put forward by MDECKER_LONDON who seems to have influenced at least one person, you, regarding my integrity.

What I meant was, that he, amongst others, has thrown up that much nit picking that if I was Dan I would seriously consider this not to be worth the trouble and would revert to wholesale.

Or, folk would start to complain to googe regarding 'payments' - which you have been heavily involved in quoting the law about.

This will be my last post on this thread, simply because I actually thought that people were genuinely interested in saving money, because it appeared to be important to them for whatever reason. Apparently in a large proportion of members it is clearly not the case, and as usual, they are prepared (and presumably able) to pay for convenience, availablity and immediacy - which, in case you hadn't noticed, is how a lot of folk ended up in the financial mess they are in.

I really don't see what your problem is about people who are posting their complaints. Surely this is what this discussion thread is for to read the good and the bad and then people can make up their mind as to if they order. Having read the complaints I've decided its not for me but I certainly wouldn't want those complaining to be censored.

May I take it that you don't eat many vegetables then ...:rotfl:

The gardeners on the 50 acres, where I live now don`t grow veg as we live on a grade 2 country estate but never mind as I support our local organic veg supplier and get a beautiful fresh box every week. Such a change from our last house where I used to grow all we ate.

Again, it is offensive to refer to people just by their surname - as I've previously pointed out, you wouldn't dare do it to my face, so it seems somewhat cowardly to do it from behind the safety of your keyboard.

My first comment on this matter was in response to your criticism of another poster, who had simply posted about their experience. Here's my comment:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=18523727&postcount=139

Despite the tone of your subsequent criticism of me, I took your advice and called and emailed. I avoided any further comment until my delivery arrived. I then posted this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=18923539&postcount=405

I think most would agree it was a detailed and objective report about my experience with this vendor, but several posters seemed to take offence and made a variety of personal comments and attacks which were offensive and unwarranted.

I repeat, yet again, my comment that this thread is designed solely for customers to report their experiences of purchasing from Approved Food. It is NOT the place for friends and fans of AF to denigrate or criticise that experience.

And I didn't say 'your' asparagus hadn't arrived, I simply disputed your comment that it was a 'simple' process, and illustrated that with the actualite of others' experience. I, and others, have had product that was leaking inside the box.

I agree with you that perhaps it's wise for you not to comment any further on this thread. The thread is, after all, designed for people to post their *own* experiences, *not* for you and others to comment on and disrespect others' experiences.
