Do I need a new sim card?

I have an old BT Genie sim card from the pre-O2 days, it's certainly a pre-3G sim and is looking very worn and battered from its 9 years of swapping between phones!
I've got a new phone on its way and O2 have upgraded my contract. Should they have sent me a new sim card too (I have the Renoir coming), or will my old Genie sim be suitable for use in the Renoir?

Well technically it'll work. It will certainly work for voice as for data. . . I've had some real problems getting old sim card working with gprs/mms/wap some just won't update with the new services...
Until it arrives and you can try your old sim there's no way to be sure, but on balance I would have said you'll most likely need a new sim. . .0 -
It may not work at all. Phone SIM used to work at 5v, then dropped to 3v and depending on the phone it would either access the SIM or not, reporting the SIM was invalid. There is every chance your new phone will reject the SIM for this reason alone, but O2 will normally arrange for a working replacement to be sent to you that will be 3G capable.0
