Hey, my hsband was in a similar position..he said he lost his copies when we got flooded the summer before....we rang his school and they only keep the results on file for so long, he was 34 at the time and they no longer had his.

Also as different subjects are all marked by different examining boards for different areas of the country, its really hard to get copies.

So I would say you no longer hae originals.

My husband would not have even gotten an interview with his actual grades...and it worked out all round, he has been there three years, been promoted twice, and had numerous merits etc on his work and is now on a fast track training programe.
  • so he actually declared his correct grades to employeres? Were they upset or annoyed about it? mine is the same predicament as your husband by the sounds of things....i should not have got through as Maths was subject required at C grade?

I think its likely had you given your real grades and your CV matched what they wanted they would have given you the job anyway. But if the job specificially asked for Grade C, just ring them and say now youve found the certs, you realise you made a mistake and see what they say. My betting is that it wont make any difference.

No he did not tell them the correct grades.

He just said he had lost all certs etc , and was unable to get copies.
It was a worrying few days, as he had passed the interviews, two writen tests and medical....but they did not make him chase up getting duplicate copi of the certificates....so they still think he has the correct grades.

  • You know what, I was thinking about this the other day- NEVER have I been asked to provide proof of qualifications, in anything. Like somebody here said- the amount of times i've brought a folder thinking somebody wanted a look and theyve never asked. I've got into two university courses with nobody looking before. Certainly an exam board like the OCR, you need to go to quite a lot of hassle to check qualifications, and I don't think its something most employers will be doing. It's all a load of crap anyway with gcses. I got a really high A* in English lit and now i can't even remember what texts I did, letalone the content of them. I have a B in German, and i can't even contruct a german sentence now! Fret ye not.
    "What...? I was only saying...."
