    Hey!
Don't you allow your dog off lead? If not why not?
My dog's off the lead in the woods as are all his mates. that's how they socialise. There's two Spinones, a Briard, many Jack Russells, Border Terrier, proudly wearing his new coat, a standard Schnauzer and a minature who's taken a violent dislike to mine. His owner keeps him on his lead when we are in sight. Oh a lovely Staffordshire Bull X who seems to walk herself, ie, races round the woods all alone and arrives back at the car
just in time to go home. So funny.:rotfl:

My favourite fellow dog walker though, is the young women who fosters old'ens.
She's on her fourth now. Her latest being an old Lab needing much care and medication. When I asked who on earth would take him on, she said , "no one. He's come to me to die, and I will not part with him."

Hah, old Billy the Lab is now so frisky and loved, that I can see us walking the woods for years to come. She, the fosterer, now owner, should be rewarded with a CBE. A true animal lover and carer.

YES agreed, if a stranger or indeed a very good friend came up to me and smelled my nether regions, I would be highly offended if not mortified.

However, we are talking dogs here. Not humans.

    mutter,

I do let my dog off the lead and she is off for most of her walk but goes back on the lead when other dogs are about. She isn't very tolerant of bad behaviour in other dogs so as a responsible dog owner I put her on the lead both for hers and the other dog's safety.

I am aware that we are talking about dogs and not humans in relation to behaviours but many dogs (like many humans) are not good at reading body language due to being under socialised as pups. This means they cannot read the 'get lost!' signals which invariable means they get growled at, pinned or bitten. This is why I used that example

  • Hi, I have a staffie who is very loving and great with kids. She i now 2yrs and a real bundle of energy. We walk for an hour every day with 4 friends and sometimes up to 8 dogs between us. Lucky enough she gets on well with all of them as she has been with them since 12 wks. I have found other staffs can be funny when around other dogs so you should check this when you finally find one. I use a halti when out as you have more control in making them stay at your side, I found she pulled with the harness and I worried it would make her more musclely.
I would def insure as they do have a habit of chewing especially if they want to get somewhere (my decking for instance when we fenced her in), I use more than and have found payment comes within the week with no prob. Some staffs also suffer with a skin condition mainly on tummies which can get very red and sore.
Cost, well I think £100 is more than enough as I buy Tesco premium chick &veg in the lge bag £11.99 which lasts us nearly 2 mths. I have found they seem to suffer with wind when eating beef but maybe that is just mine.
    Good luck and have fun

I have two staffies's - a !!!!! and a dog (Archie and Carson) who look very much like Candygirls two dogs.

I have had two staffies previous to these too, and love the nature of the breed. Carson is a big fat laid back lump and Archie think he's a little boy, who gets excited about everything.

It's definately the way a dog is treated as to the way it acts. Mine are the nicest natured dogs you could find with people, and Archie will let kids climb on him and drag him round the floor, but Carson isn't great with dogs she feels threatened by. If they bigger than her she'll growl and would probably go for them givem a chance, though some dogs she's happily lick and wag her tail at.
