Be Broadband

Hi
Am following through on the Plusnet value thread at the moment, which I can get from my exchange, although I can't get O2 which I would have preferred. Had thought in a desperate moment that BT might be the answer they are offering me £12.99 for a years contract with 10GB usage which is 8GB more than I get with Pipex!0 -
Looking on the BE discussion forum some members say they are only paying £12 for BE lite.....if you ask them to undercut O2.
If you dont ask you wont get.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -
On the cheap broadband guide it says this: "Sign up to a year's contract on the Be There Value* package and it's free for the first six months and £13.50 thereafter (ave £6.75/mth) and the £24 connection fee will be waived. To get the offer just enter the code broadbandchoices in the promotional box at the check out (we have permission to list this code). This offer is also available to existing customers that are out of their contract period."
I'm an existing customer out of my contract period and they have just said I can't have this deal. Anyone else tried successfully? If so how did you do it? Martin says you have to enter the code when you sign up to get the deal but exisiting customers obviously don't sign up so there's no way of entering a code!?!?!!0 -
You can't get it as an existing customer.
Ask them for a MAC and see if they make you a retention offer.0 -
Thanks Quentin. May well do that. I'm sure Martin or his underlings wouldn't have said that without checking though so I wonder what went wrong there? He was very specific about it not being available to all existing customers, just those out of contract. Still, I'll never get an answer from the man himself so best forget it eh? Unless there is a way to directly contact his staff to query info from the weekly mail? Know of anything like that? Surely they want to know when they mess up so they can let everyone know the following week.0

The e-mail seems quite definite about this, but you cannot apply online if you are an existing customer.
Ring them and ask them for it and see what happens.
If no luck, ring back again (for someone else) and ask for the MAC and test their retention offers.
Or consider signing up to o2 via Quidco (£50 cashback).0 -
I was with Be for 2 years and they were excellent. The only reason I didn't stay with them when I moved flat is because they are not available on my new exchange.0

Be* was great when I had them. Very sad to leave them when I moved across the pond.0

I have been with Be on the Be Lite for about 18 months so was out of contract. I went to the website to find the link that would cancel my account (happy with service but wanted to see what they did). The link tells you to call them. Instead i opened a general ticket asking for my MAC as I could get O2 broadband cheaper. Within 20 minutes they emailed me back saying they could reduce my price to £10 month with no new contract and no change in speed. I agreed, and within another 5 minutes, all the details were amended and a credit was issued.
So now I have my excellent service still up and running and do not need to move anything to get to the modem (hidden away behind furniture) and all for less money. The best thing is I can still move at anytime as am not in another contract.0
