Help!
I originally posted the following thread, but wasn't able to get a reply so, if I may, I'll try again here: Previous post, as follows:
(My point is at the bottom, in bold)
I left Orange at the end of December to run with BT. I gave the MAC code to BT at that time. I didn't formally cancel with Orange as they said it would all be taken care of as BT & Orange would liaise.
Began BT on 7th January - no problems.
Orange carry a 30-day cancellation period which, I assumed, would start as soon as BT made contact with them - which was 29/12. However, Orange claim that this can't start until 13th Jan - six days after they stopped supplying me.
So, the effective cancellation period is six weeks.
However, I've just had an email to say that the outstanding amount has been given to a debt-collecting agency ... even though this isn't even due until 4th February! I dispute this, although know from others what a hassle things become once this is actioned. I'm now seriously concerned. HELP!

phone them
did you cancel the direct debit? If not do not cancel it until all funds owed to Orange are paid. We had a hassle with Orange continuing to bill us when we used our MAC to switch to o2.
Orange have a completely useless cancellation system!0 -
Thanks, understood. I am disputing the need for Orange to have a six week notice period. I have reinstated a new payment method. However, apparently, the debt collecting folk have already been instructed - even though the payment is not due until the 4th.0
