NatWest Step Account

I have a Step account which gives me a chip and pin card but no cheque book and no O/D. I can also use it online. Can I keep this when I go BR?

I wouldn't count on being able to keep that account so would open a Coop or Barclays account just in case and be sure not to leave any money in any account when you go BR - just in case the OR decides to take it.

Natwest normally close those accounts when they learn of your BR.

We have had branch staff promise quite a few people that it would be OK and that they could keep it, only to have them closed anyway.

OK will open CashMinder then. I don't have much in my account anyway!

OK I'll see what NatWest say, but I'll open a CashMinder account just in case.

Nat West will close your step account as soon as they learn you are BR. They closed mine. Open a Co-op or Barclays account instead.
  • A Barclays account now gives you a chip and pin card too. Just ask they gave me one 3 months after my BR so they are friendly. But to be honest I prefer the cashminder one. Staff much better with you, Barclays staff have that stuck up look at you if BR. Well my branch staff do anyway!
