Cancun or Mauritius

Another vote for the El Dorado Royale which is about 25 minutes down the coast from Cancun. Casita suites were lovely about 5 years ago when we went although resort has grown a lot since then. However Playa Del Carmen would suit them better if they want nightlife they can walk to and plenty of hotels in Playacar may suit them as this is just south of Playa Del Carmen but many are walkable

Cancun is a concete jungle although it may offer more nightlife as they are young

Personally we went to maldives for honeymoon and absolutely loved it. IMO it blows all those other places out of the water for a relaxing holiday. Wouldn't necessarily be any more expensive either in current climate

Yes - luckily we were upgraded free of charge to Casita suite. They have built and are continuing to build more casitas, but even though there are now 640 rooms it did not feel crowded.
I have been to the Maldives as well and I agree it would be ideal for a honeymoon and depending on what time of year the price could be comparable with Mexico.
I wonder what the OP has decided? Please let us know.

having been to Mauritius, i didn't find there was anything to do if the weather was a bit cold, apart from the sugar museum and the botanical gardens.
Its all very beach and water activity orientated, we went in may last year and it rained for quite a few days.
Ive not been to Cancun but have heard good things from friends.
