Baby in a one bed flat
Comments

Well we are in a 4 bedroomed house...but co-sleeping is the answer for us. I think it's really great. I work during the day too so feel I make up for lost time having my daughter next to me as I sleep. Putting a tiny baby in a cot in a room of it's own is pretty unnatural if you think about it. I have a link to a good article:

Thanks for that Squashy - very interesting and informative.0

It's fine...we have a 5 month old & are only moving because we have damp & our bathroom is a mouldy, single glazed shower room made of wood!
Sometimes 'waiting' for the right time isn't ideal, so just make the best with what you have.
You're lucky you own your property. Despite us being top of the council housing list, we still had no chance of housing so had to find something in the private sector which was a nightmare!
Anyways, good luck0 -
It's never a "good" time to have children but you make it work.
Me and hubby started in a 1 bed flat when we had our first child, we were there till little one was over a year it was no problem. Key is as other have stated, dont buy stuff you dont need, and declutter!
We are now in a 2 bed flat with 2 girls, they share a room. All is fine at the mo, but I really want more!
Our flat is quite big, edwardian house conversion, our main bedroom is 6mx6m and the girls room is about 4.5x4.5m. We currently can't afford to move, Im thinking in the long term if we cant move for 10yrs lets say, do think its reasonable for 4 kids in the bigger room, 2 sets of bunks?
Not sure if 4 kids in a 2 bed flat is do-able?
Anyone with experience of this?0 -
Yes go for it. while it not ideal . it is certainly do-able. when our first child was born we were still living in a 1 bedroom flat. we were selling it but sale fell through, loosing our 4 bedroom converted barn we were moving too( i was devstated. it is now a rented holiday barn and i keep looking at it as it on the net and wishin. but ho hum . and there for ending up still being in the 1 bed flat when baby was born. i was actually on way out the flat on way hospital at the time when then estate agents brought someone round to view, lol. but we didn't have any prob's with having a baby in a one bed flat.0

One of ours rolled under a sofa once, but we found her after a few minutes.
How did they drop her behind a wardrobe?0 -
I live on narrow boat and where i am moored there is a couple with a young baby on their boat and they manage very well ,I think the answer is to just get rid of as much clutter as possible.
No advice for OP...but just wanted to say WOW! I've always wanted to live on a boat, lucky you!!!0 -
You don't say the layout of your flat.
Are you in a block of flats, or a smaller arrangement that might have a loft to convert? My neighbours did just that.
If in a block and no alternatives of going up or out, can you look at the way the rest of the flat is layed out.
Maybe you can rejig the set up. If the kitchen is separate, perhaps you could find a way of fitting the kitchen within the living room, and make the kitchen into a small room for the baby.
Even take out walls to make space bigger.0 -
