Why do they give you 2 cards? What is the point? Is there any disadvantage to using one over the other

With the Amex you get 1 Airmile per £10, with the Mastercard you get 1 Airmile per £50.
Although obviously less places take Amex0 -
Just called and they told me my application has not been successful due to the fact i only been with Lloyds just over a month! They said a letter has been sent to confirm this however i can appeal against the decision and get it looked again. Does this mean that it is not a straight no and i can appeal and hope to get the decision overturned? Has anyone had this?0
