Removing an internal wall...

Hi, I'd like to knock through from my kitchen into the dining room o make a kitchen/diner...

I think the wall is a supporting wall as there is a wall directly above this wall and the floorboards above run at 90 degrees to the brickwork.

So I'm guessing I'll need to get an RSJ to support the above.

Anyone had any experience of this? Either DIY or through a builder.

I know I'll need to call out Building Control. Will I need a structural enginner for the size and load bearing attributes of the RSJ.

Am I missing anything??? Oh wall that will be removed is 1.7 m in length, its not the whole wall just around half of it.
