Help! Offer Accepted But Still Viewings

Please can someone give us some advice. We have put an offer in on a house (1st time buyers no chain) and it was accepted however they have informed us that they are letting some people view the house on monday. We have said that we are unhappy with this and they have said its a contingency on their part and that they will tell the other viewers tht a bid has been made and accepted but they have first refusal should it fall through. As u can imagine we are not happy about this!!! our conveyancing solicitor is going in mon/tues and we have given them our agreement in principle. The agents have reassured us that bids wont be accepted however we know that this is not always true!! the house is a BARGAIN and are wondering if there is anything we can do, also they have not stated that it is under offer online, should we be saying unless that is done we will pull out!!

I did the same when I sold my house. With house prices dropping £20-30 every day they can't run the risk that you'll be unable to get a mortgage, or will pull out at the last minute. So they need a backup plan.

There's nothing you can do except hurry up evrybody, get your surveyor booked etc, soonest, so you are showing them you are progressing well.

We popped in today and they said again that they will not let it go from underneath us, my concern is if the other viewers put in a higher offer they are bound to accept,!!

as someone who has had a couple of buyers drop out i would strongly advice a seller to continue to market the property even after an offer ,
imagine if you have a survey done and are not happy with it so it will then be ok for you to pull from the sale and leave the seller in the lurch

i can understand that but have heard lots of horror stories especially with the house prices dropping the way they are that if a higher offer is made then then they can accept! I suppose we will just have to wait and see and keep our fingers crossed that nothing underhanded goes on

I'm in a similar position, had offer accepted but now waiting for the survey results. I was told they won't list the property as "under offer" or SSTC until I'm happy with the survey report. I think it's just normal practice in the current market. It's still a worry though. Have you had a survey done yet?

Hi,

We only had the offer accepted yesterday and have the MAIP submitted to them today. Surveyor to follow should be next week, its just so worrying so we are going as quickly as possible just concerned people will be viewing on monday but i suppose they have to cover themselves.

sbp - if you get your mortgage in principle and once the surveyor has been out, I think you will find they will be happier about it all. Dont forget the other people viewing (if they go now) will also feel uneasy - they will know you are proceeding and will probably not want to get involved in a bidding war.
