  • You don't HAVE to apply for a free bike, if the conditions are too demanding for you! :D
Thanks to all who post constructively.

  • I qualify, so I have applied and I'll let you know!
  • Yay! My postcode is included! Thank you!
  • I wasn't going to apply anyway as I have a bike, but very interesting postcode lottery! I can live in L12 4** or L12 6** but not L12 5**, just wondering what the difference is between my road and the next one!!

There are terms and conditions they will send you a cycle meter and you need to record journeys and mileage to ensure you are using the bike. Independent witnesses need to sign your journey log at both ends of the journeys (they cannot be relatives or friends), they need to check your cyleometer and write and sign mileage on your journey log.

Once you have submitted 4 weeks of journey logs they send you written ownership of the handlebars, once they receive the next 4 weeks journeys they send you ownership confirmation for the seat and so on until you have completed all itemised parts.

Just to update further terms added due to abuse of above, independent mileage verifiers must be over 50, apparently they are less likey to be corrupt, but must be wearing either niylon ponchos or tassled cardigans. will update with further developments.

My OH got his bike on Saturday. He had to do a hour one bike awareness test and came away with a fab bike. Don't worry about the test, the tutor is really helpful and it's more of a formality. The bike is a really good bike and anyone who qualifies for one will be thrilled with it.

Do you get bike pumps and stuff with it?

Does it have 'travelwise' emblazoned over it?

    Where was the test held?

  • Just picked up my new bike and accesories, for free. Both me and my partner applied and we have both received them. Thanks Martin Lewis. :j
  • Thanks Martin Lewis. :j
Actually you should really be pressing the THANKS button for SailorSam in post 1, all Martin Lewis has done is pass on SailorSam's tip in his weekly email! :rotfl:
