Thanks, but neither Childwall or Halewood seem to be included. I would love someone to explain how they chose the areas as most parts of Halewood are very poor.0

I don't know either; much of where I live is students. It's about half students, half poor non students, many of whom are foreign. Nowt wrong with that but I only mean they're on low incomes in my area; me included!!
I don't know how it was decided either, which areas do and do not qualify; there is a fair bit of poverty in Toxteth too; some of Kensington is included though.0 -

I don't think the scheme is related to or aimed at the "poor". It is aimed at getting people out of their cars essentially.0 -
i dont no if you will have to give the bikes back...... after a trial period tbh! and i bet they will do something to stop people selling them on ebay , this is ment for a good cause not to give people money to go out/buy a meal haha!I am a full time Benefit and Money Adviser for a leading non profit charity and I LOVE my job

"If you live in an area of Liverpool with low bike ownership, you could qualify for a free tailor-made package of cycling support. Residents in qualifying areas are entitled to free bikes, equipment and .....And best of all it's free!
The scheme.... is funded by the Neighbourhood Working Fund for Liverpool."

There are terms and conditions they will send you a cycle meter and you need to record journeys and mileage to ensure you are using the bike. Independent witnesses need to sign your journey log at both ends of the journeys (they cannot be relatives or friends), they need to check your cyleometer and write and sign mileage on your journey log.
Once you have submitted 4 weeks of journey logs they send you written ownership of the handlebars, once they receive the next 4 weeks journeys they send you ownership confirmation for the seat and so on until you have completed all itemised parts.0 -

That makes things hard for those of us who don't know many people. So if I am going to the shop, for example, or the library, I have to go in and get them to sign it? And if I am going to work, leaving at 4:30am as I sometimes do, should I loiter in the street and accost some random stranger to sign my log?:rolleyes:0
