WINPLC.com and Ltext.com text scam

• This was a really useful post - I've just checked my bill - going back to January I've had at least 1 unsolicited text per month. More fool me for not checking my bill regularly.... However a call to this number seems to have stopped them - apparently its a Credit Crunch Quiz that signed me up. I'm now on the warpath for a belated refuned - these guys don't do it themselves...

I had the same problem where recently, I was billed £1.28 by a company only known as 85222.

Through phonepayplus I managed to find out that this 85222 company was...

WIN (Wireless Information Network) Ltd
1 Cliveden Office Village
Lancaster Road
High Wycombe
HP12 3YZ
01494 750 500
customerservices@winplc.com

I contacted a lady from WIN via the 01494 750 500 and explained my complaint to her where she explained that their WIN company only forwards the leads but she told me that the company sending me this interactive text was a company called Quiz Whiz.

She made sure that this company was blocked so that I won't receive any more texts.

Furthermore, she also gave me the telephone number of this Quiz Whiz company which is 0843 110 2500.
I spoke to a lady called Lara and she confirmed that it might have been a technical hitch and she arranged a refund for me and also sent me a comfirmation text that I will no longer get these interative message from them in the future.

Well I THINK I just received a £10 refund postal-order from the company. The reason why I am not certain is I received a call to the phone from a private number (which I never answer) and about 2 minutes later, I received a partially completed email from someone called Ian McClelland but from a personal email address. The email did not say he was from Win PLC but then I haven't complained to any other companies in the last 12 months. The email said:

"HI I can now confirm your number will be removed from our data base and you will not receive any more texts from us, we will also send out £10 today to reimburse you.
Please"

And today the postal order arrived from an Ayrshire postal code by recorded delivery.

So a bit of a result as long as I don't receive any more texts ;)

How did they get your home address?
• got some info if it helps, email address is johnrands@winplc.com.i found out by going on another site ITP.net and eventually getting other info off help@aboutus.org who directed me to their add and info,i have formally requested my money back for the premium line texts also try emailing customercare@xblox.com who are another one of these scam companies,i got both the names from Vodafone cust service,so hope it helps

phone number is
0845 1309911 or 0845 3722331
e mail is
customerservices@winplc.com or
customer.service@imimobile.com

if you dont get any joy they told me to contact Phone pay plus on

WOW, Amasing this hasn't been shut down... just shows what dead heads run this country. I will write to my local one.

My vodafone bill listed a series of £1.25 charges over 20£ in one month with the bill detail just showing TEXT INFO SERVICE in messages received

When asking vodafone on the first attempt after 20 mins of holding and being passed around and told me I had to email winplc.com (they offered no alternative or phone numbers.) the operator admitted this was a problem they knew about but couldn't do anything.

Winplc.com takes you to Imi who had bought Winplc in 2010! thanks for the rubbish lead from vodafone!!

I Googled and found this forum... thanks

I called vodafone back and told them Im leaving them unless I can get this resolved by them. I was then given a 0800 number whihc I refused advising they must know about this scam and I want something done after a long hold they refunded just the recent bill (£20) and placed a premium service bar on my texts (great).

Wasted half a day on this!

yesterday I received a text from a company called mobjizz. They charged my £6 for a video I down loaded. I haven't down loaded any videos. I rang EE this morning absolutely tamping at being scammed. The said they would investigate. I waited all day to no avail. Finally rang them back this evening. They hadn't done a thing. The woman who answered gave me 0845 1309911 to call and pretty much sort it out my self. The companies name Winplc.com. What's stopping them text me again and again and again. How can a company get away with such a scam. So angry i'm spitting nails(six inch).

You can message the escalation team using esc@mobjizz.com They will then review your query & ensure your number is removed. They can also provide information as to why you were charged.
