    Hi Jim
No membership fee for public - groups can sign up for a fee and then get a discount on certain things I think.....It's called the Unique Scrapstore and is off the London Road in Newark near the Auction House and level crossing by the Castle - think they also do online for £4.99 delivery

  • There is one in Gloucester too at the old city works in Alfred Street. Unfortunately though it is more for community groups, Brownies, businesses, schools etc but may be of use to some groups with a limited budget.

Is from £18 per year membership then £10 a trolly. They also have lots of other paints and arty craft stuff for sale that seems a good price too.

    The link is http://www.grcltd.org/grc.html

We got lots of great stuff for work.....I work with adults with learning disabilities and they made all their own Xmas cards, pictures etc.

This is my favourite place of all time, Summer 07 saw me making the Jamaica part of our carnival float made entirely from City Works offerings. I also usualy manage to find some bits for my craft offerings too.

Where abouts in Gloucester are you ??

A local charity, Brothers of Charity run one of these shops right round the corner from me, lucky me,lol,.
I was in there on friday and bought 10 zips for £2.
The charity helps adults with learning difficulties, indeed the clients wrk in the shop packing items for sale.
I`ve bought fabrc from them, made bags & took it back for display.
    I`m in Chorley.

  • Hi. I run the Unique Scrapstore (part of the Unique Coffee Bar Charity)
Thank you all for talking about us!
I noticed some people wanted more info so I hope you won't think I'm being too cheeky by writing here!

We are owned by a charity that works with disadvantaged teenagers and the Scrapstore provides a real business for those young people to do a City & Guilds accredited work experience (whilst working in a supportive environment)

We take in all sorts of surplus stuff and sell it at low cost (both on line and in our shop in Newark on Trent) Any profit we make is given back to the charity.

We are open to everyone, but we offer a discount for schools, charities play workers etc.

We have been described as selling 'all the stuff you need to make those models you see on Blue Peter!' but that's not all we do:

One of our BEST BARGAINS is our domestic paint. Good quality emulsion and gloss etc that is surplus from the decorating trade and priced between 50p & 99p per litre.
We also sell furniture, electrical goods, fabric, hardware, anything we can lay our hands on!

Every year, we divert over 50 tonnes of good quality use-able stuff away from landfill so that people can do something more useful with it.
We are great believers in offering good value first and foremost and that the green/re-use/charity side of things is an extra feel-good bonus

Please give us a google and check out what we do.
Feel free to ring if you want to find out more (but be warned, I can go on about this stuff ALL day!)

  • I'm looking for a scrap store or similar to get cheap fabric for making morsbags (http://www.morsbags.com) in Northamptonshire. Does anyone know of anywhere?
  • Don't Morsbags recommend asking local charity shops for sheets/ curtains etc that aren't suitable for sale? I think they have a template letter on the website...
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
