Tom Tom - stand alone or mobile add on?
I have just upgraded my phone to a Nokia 6680 and I would like to get a Tom Tom. However I am not sure whether to go for a stand alone TomTom - One or 300 - or to get the Mobile 5 for my mobile. Would really appreciate advice. TIA

I have the TomTom Mobile 5 specifically because I didn't want an extra piece of hardware to carry around or hide in the car.
Its the best gadget I've bought for years, for both pose-value and useability!
I guess the advantage with the stand-alone system is that you can lend it to friends/family if needed, which would be difficult to do if it was integrated into your mobile like TomTom 5
Let me know if you have any questions about TomTom Mobile 5.Charles J0 -

Hi Could Some One Give Me Details Of Putting Tom Tom On My N70 Please How Much Is It Hard To Put On Where Do You Buy It From Thanks Darren0

Redzak, you can get it for around £180 IIRC, maybe less now. You get a memory card with the software installed, and a bluetooth GPS receiver. You need a compatible phone. Check the tomtom website to see a list of phones currently compatible.redzak wrote:How much does it cost to put on your mobile?

M20DAL, see above; you just pop the memory card into your phone (or you can copy the card contacts onto a larger card if you need to store other stuff on it) and switch the bluetooth GPS receiver on. When you start tomtom through your phones menu it will pair the phone to the GPS receiver and shortly afterwards get a satellite fix - that’s it!M20DAL wrote:Hi Could Some One Give Me Details Of Putting Tom Tom On My N70 Please How Much Is It Hard To Put On Where Do You Buy It From Thanks Darren
You can buy it from the usual sellers; amazon, ebuyer etc, but also places like globalpositioningsystems.co.uk which are specialists. Just do a search on the web for "tomtom mobile".Charles J0 -

Too true roswell; because your back-light will be on during navigation it will drain your battery faster. It's also essential to get a car charger for your GPS receiver too for the same reason.Charles J0 -

Definatly get it on your phone. The TomTom unit is very good at what it does but I think having it on the phone makes it more useable. You obviously will be taking your phone with you when you get out of the car anyway, so there is no need to cary another bulky unit. It is also much cheaper than even the cheapest TomTom standalone (this is money saving expert after all
)
The downside is that you might have problems when you upgrade your phone (but you will be able to use the bluetooth GPS mouse still) and also the screen size is normally a fair bit smaller unless you have something like an XDA (PDA phone).0
