Dialaphone - Are their phones sim-locked?
Hi all,
Three quick questions about phones from Dial-a-phone.
1) Are the contract phones they sell sim-locked or are they tied to their associated network?
2) If I sign up to an Orange contract through Dial-a-phone, will my contract be with Orange, or Dial-a-phone?
3) Would it be easy to add a data bundle to an Orange contract through Dial-a-phone.
Thanks.

its network based NOT agent based.
so yes your phone would be locked on orange. your contract would probs be with cpw FOR orange. dialaphone juyst sell the package. if theres cashback involves diaphone would be your port of call.
extras would be through cpw for orange.0 -
Hi,
I thought with Dial-a-Phone the contract would be direct with the airtime provider - so with Orange, in this case?0 -

Dialaphone are owned by Phones4U who are rivals to CPW so the contract would certainly not be with CPW!
The contract will be directly with Orange and it is more than likely that the handset will be locked to Orange if it bears the Orange logo.

There is no absolute answer, it depends on the stock in the store.
Where the phone is branded by the network and sold as such it will usually be locked, but big phone places buy unlocked stock so they can use it on any network rather than having to stock differnet network variants of the same phone.
It depends what the phone is, if it's on other networks and where the stock came from.
If you want a Google phone then it has to be T-mobile stock as they are the only one doing it, similarly Iphones will be locked to o2 regardless of where you got it from. Both will almost certainly be locked.
If it's something on all the networks theres a greater chance that it will be unlocked, but there isn't a hard and fast rule that all CPW stock is unlocked or not, I've had locked and unlocked phones from them.
You can always ask for an unlocked unbranded phone in the store, online it could go either way.2) If I sign up to an Orange contract through Dial-a-phone, will my contract be with Orange, or Dial-a-phone?

2) Contract will be with Orange, they (and T-mobile) don't allow others to do there billing (O2 and Voda do and you could be dealing with the stores version of o2/Voda)
3) Should be easy either way, ask when you get it or call Customer services afterwards. Dependiong on the store it may be cheaper to get it with the handset, look online so you know the costs in advance and decide when you see what they offer you.0
