Cheap cigarettes in Europe?

Hi There, I would gladly do a cigarette run to France/Belgium if I could find someone to share the petrol costs and also the driving. Can anyone tell me if you can still do the coach trips where you go there and back in a a day for cigarettes and booze? You don't hear much about them now, they used to be all the rage. I live in Shropshire if anyone can help me out.

They do still do them, I think there is a free bus from the port to Adenkirke and back.
Adenkirke to Calais is quote a short drive and is basically all motor way. I personall would drive or you can go as a foot passenger and get the coach at the other end.
Have a look at the day-tripper website as it tells you all the different options etc etc0 -
This is so funny having a great day out for fags and saying the Doctor ordered it!
Wasn't meant to be a funny Richard but my Doc would probably agree since I have given up alcohol!!
Becsam - sorry I can't help you out as I live in London but I went with P&O. It may well be much better for you to fly to Spain which would cut down your travelling so much - there are lots of cheap flights about and I notice that some companies are introducing new flights from smaller, regional airports, as cheap as £10/15, plus Spain is much cheaper for ciggies but obviously you would have to carry your booze allowance.
Yes there is a coach from Calais to Adenkirke as I saw it advertised.
Dacouch - I only went into 3 shops to compare prices and assumed that there must be some sort of Government ruling as they were all the same - £38.50 per carton for B&H. Has anybody found out differently?
Thank you to everybody for the feedback.

Interesting reading! Worth mentioning that I used to drive up to Adinkerke to get better price, but the last time I went found cigarettes at the exact same price in the shop at the Eurotunnel terminal! A bit of a waste of 45-mins drive there and same back again, but it made us laugh. Will check out the daytripper website mentioned above. Thanks, all!0

Again interesting reading .... have the Eurotunnel not cottoned onto this and why don't they advertise the fact? It is bad enough that I pollute the air with cigarette smoke but to add to the fact that I am burning up unnecessary petrol and causing further pollution is not good - lol. The scenery wasn't bad though on a sunny day!

Every time I have been either through the tunnel or on the ferry they have been more expensive than Adenkerke.
Went in October last and Ferry wanted £6.90 for Golden Virgina and it was £4ish at adenkirk0 -
The shops in adenkirke are all the same price Lindy, you tend to find different shops will through extras in like give you loads of lighters if you spend a bit. We normally go to the pub for a pint and breakfast (Full English of course) and he has a shop in there and he was the only shop not making a charge for cards at the time so you can get extras out of them if you look but the fags will all be the same price0

Thanks for that - we actually have breakfast on board, BOGOF, which was surprisingly very good. Ended up spending a lot of money in TJ's and they chucked in 20+ lights and quite a few boxes of chocs - not sure about cc charge, I think I may have been charged!!Regards

We go to the pub about a 100 feet down the road from the garage, its become a ritual with us each time we go away. Pop in there for a breakfast and pint and buy some baccy on the way and way back. It breaks the trip up quite well and we get cheap fags!
We tend to prefer going on the tunnel as much much quicker and convenient than ferry. Try it next time you go, if you want cheap fares mess about with the times you travel eg after about 1ish leaving england and returning after about 4ish you can get it to around £40. I know its more than the ferry but we prefer to pay for the convenience as it saves so much time0
