Some of you may remember my recent thread about buying a flat in reading and having slightly cold feet.
Well, i was just at the point arranging a mortgage and instructing solicitrs, and...
I have been gazumped, if you can believe that in these times!
apparently the offer is 'substantially higher' and is by someone involved with the management company for the block.
Oh well. Sigh. I s'pose at least it shows that what I thought might be a good price, was in someone else's opinion a good price.

Thankfully it hasn't cost me money, only hassle. another 24 hours and I would have lost at least 500 quid if not more.....0

Well, there will be another one round the corner
And you have an idea now of the process and the value. 0 -

Wow, that does amaze me...!
I was recently "gazundered" (and started a thread about it last night) - the other side of the coin: neither are acceptable.
It might not help much (I know that I was very angry when I was gazundered), but will repeat what others said to me... "hopefully - no matter how awful it might seem now - things will turn out for the best" (I hope that you find a flat that you like EVEN more, for EVEN less money, very soon
).
Good luck and best wishes

Ah yes, that was the one where you offered about 75%* of the asking price, an asking price which had already been reduced by 20%

Unsurprisingly, yes I can believe someone has offered more
(* 75% is estimated figure is based on difference of average UK house price in Oct-Dec 2001 of £118,821 Vs todays average price of £158,946 - source Land Registry)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Maybe they're expecting you to increase your offer? Don't!
Chances are they'll be back to you in a few days as the other 'sale' has 'fallen through'.Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
That's the time you you tell 'em you've revised you're offer down by a futher 50% since there's obviously no one else genuinely interestedBettiePage wrote: »Maybe they're expecting you to increase your offer? Don't!

why don't you get your revenge on the seller and gazump the new buyer then make a silly excuse to cancel the deal later. Works both ways!0

Crazy!! Like you have been advised, dont increase that offer! It will be back on the market in another month with a further 10% reduction. :rotfl:0
