Can anyone advise what the difference is between O2 broadband and O2 Access? It says I can only get O2 access but its twice the price of the basic O2 broadband package and even looks slightly inferior (upload speeds), whats the difference??

If O2 don't have their own kit installed in your exchange they offer you their reselling of BT Wholesale0

I'm on access...
no static IP (but very, very sticky)
interleaving on by default
currently very high pings, and low speeds in the evening. A large investment is being made in the infrastructure, but whether that includes access, or just the LLU side is anyone's guess.

The speed/pings etc. is just the same as whatever you would get with BT
But the O2 product comes with no download limits and better customer service - so overall it is a better service than direct BT
@DatabaseError - the investment is on the LLU side - it has nothing to do with the access service as BT is responsible for all the hardware etc.0 -
^ BT may be responsible for the hardware, but O2 can choose to light segments, or order new centrals.
I think and assumption that the investement is entirely in LLU is possibly correct, but do you know that as fact?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
No - someone once said they wouldn't spend money on the BT side of things but I don't have a link or anythingDatabaseError wrote: »^ BT may be responsible for the hardware, but O2 can choose to light segments, or order new centrals.

From their site
Considering they make more money from the LLU product it seems very likely that they would therefore prefer to upgrade exchanges to LLU than do stuff related to the access productWe are unbundling as many telephone exchanges as possible, as quickly as we can. By the end of 2008 we aim to have our own equipment installed in telephone exchanges covering around 70% of the UK population.0 -
So would people recommend O2 access?? The equivalent on BT is BT Option 3 which is £25 per month, whereas O2 access is £17 as an O2 customer? Would you say go for O2?0

Yes goto O2 over BT option 3 unless you want the added features that Option 3 have like the WI-FI, extra phone, N router etc.....0
