Demo a dyson and you will feel the suction is ok

try a Miele and it will take your hand off

So it's a Miele from me only down side is the bags can be a bit on the expensive side.

Yes , the bags are expensive, but they can be re-used many times.

When you take them out to replace, they self seal.

It is easy to slide the seal open, just encourage it past the cardboard stops.

The bags are multi layered and robust.

Spread out an old newspaper, / you get the idea, / long nosed pliers .

Time taken 5 to 10 minutes. (It's not the money, its the challenge) ! ;)

    Anything by miele

I've a Miele S500 Revolution with electric power brush. Had it 8 or 9 years. Have always found the hose about a couple of feet or more too short for natural arm swing without yanking on the machine, or for reaching tops of doors, and the awkward 90 degree curve in the handle makes using tools directly on the hose like wrestling with a half dead snake. Horrible.

Whenever I periodically ask Miele if a longer hose is available you would not believe the sloppy hopeless responses for which I've never got a clear yes/no answer over the years.

Generally comments like, yes ... but we don't know what the part number is.

Or, yes .. the part number is XXXX, then the parts desk contradict the showroom people and refuse to even get one off the shelf for me to look at despite having my cleaner with me to have tested it.

Or, no ... because of the electrical connections - yeah, but what about a hose that lacks the electrical connections - will that fit and let the thing simply run at full power without the hose switch controls? - no reliable answer ever given.

Latest response today, after emailing Miele in Germany (and rather than taking an interest in bad impression of their UK operation they just dismissed the email by simply forwarding it to the UK anyway!) was that because it was a new model not only was a longer hose not available but an older part probably couldn't be adapted either. The gormless doughnuts: I had even quoted the part number and serial number so they ought to know its not a 'new' model even had I not also told them it was 8 or 9 years old!!

Oh, and the tools compartment lid has always often easily fallen off its hinges.

If and when it breaks (all 'hoovers' last a long time anyway, good make or bad) I'll certainly be trying another brand, probably Bosch or Panasonic not least in the hope that their parts/service department might possibly have at least a passing interest in their products which is more than can be said for the lazy twits at Miele.
