Porting my no on the same network (ORANGE)

I have just bought my 1st contract phone from e2save on orange. I have previously been on orange pay as you talk. I understand it is possible to port my number to the new sim. The literature from e2save says this is NOT possible.
Is there any reason (for example e2save do not get money for a new connection) that I should not phone up orange and get my number transferred between the phones.
thanks

Moving your number within the same supplier is called a migration, not a port.
If e2save say you cant do it, i guess its not possible on this occassion.Does the contract you signed specifically disallow it.0 -
e2save is carphonewarehouse, and they do there own contracts, so orange probably won't be able to help you0

The contract for line rental is with Orange, not e2save. If you were to default on payment of the line rental during the contracted period, then it will be Orange who will try to recover from you, not e2save.0 -

What you are proposing to do is to migrate the number, not port it in this instance. E2save will not allow you to do what you are proposing, nor will Orange.
What you need to do, if you are proposing to keep the number, is to get the PAC from Orange and port it to another network, and then you will have to get the PAC from that network which will allow you to port it back to Orange.
If you have placed the order with e2save already, it may be too late to tell them you want to do this. If you have a cashback deal with e2save and you do go ahead and port at this stage, you may have difficulty in obtaining your cashback because the number stated on your bills would differ from that which e2save thought they had sold to you.
The easiest resolve is to put an answer phone message on your old PAYG phone, informing callers that your number has now changed.0 -
The easiest would be to phone up orange and ask them to upgrade you from PAYG to contract. You should be able to do that directly without going via e2save.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You could ... but then you would not have the same range of offers.
In answer to the original question, from the e2save Helpdesk (http://www.e2save.com/faq.php)If you want to continue on your existing network and transfer your number to pay monthly (e.g. port from Virgin Mobile pay as you go to Virgin Mobile pay monthly) then, at present, we cannot process these ports for you. To be able to process a port you must be moving from one network to another.
You will need to port out from Orange to another network (Virgin seemed to be giving away free sims somewhere on the board yesterday) then port back to Orange. It is possible with e2save - but I would check that porting a number onto the contract will not affect your cashback. From their website:How do I port my number to Orange?
If you require your existing mobile number to be ported onto your new contract, simply contact your existing supplier to obtain your PAC code. Then order your handset as normal from ourselves which will be connected with a 'temporary number' on Orange. Upon receipt, you must contact Orange directly (number given below) quoting your 'temporary number' along with the number you wish to port across (your existing number) and your PAC code.
Orange - 0800 376 2285
Your existing number will then be transferred within 5 to 7 working days.
When I ordered from OSPS last year (part of CPW, as is e2save) I ported from my old Orange contract, to TMobile then back to Orange - took about 15 days in total but as I have had this number for 10 years + I am not prepared to change it now (as it takes very little effort if you have the sim to do it - that is one reason for getting the free sims when they come around as you then have them ready).

If I port my number from another network to Orange, will there be a extra charge?0

Orange wont levy a charge to receive your number on its network. But your current service prvider may levy a charge to give you the PAC. You would need to check with your current provider.0 -
Just to let those of us who ae on Orange PAYG - free evening calls promotion from last year.
Range Orange last night after noticing that my call to my family were being knocked off my credit instaed of coming off the free evening Orange calls allowance.
Spoke to 'Andy' from Plymouth Call Centre I think around 18.30. Told him that I topped up on 9 Jan after being told that that was the deadline by SMS the month before and all calls to Orange between 1900 and 2359 are covered by the 600 minutes in the promo. I guessed that I had had £5 taken off the balance wrongly. He said he would check.
He checked and rang me back and said that Their records showed that I had made £4 of calls that should have been covered by the promo. The promo computer apparently takes a balance of your account the day before - so if you leave it to the last 6 hours or so - it doesn't register the fact that you have topped up in time and kicks you off the promo scheme.
Andy then says that that his supervisor has authorised a refund of £2.50 on the account. I said that as he confirmed that £4 was taken - shoul;dn't £4 be refunded???
Silence on line - apologised and said that tis was his instruction from the supervisor!!!
Mean or what??? Jacques!!0 -
I took my Orange PAYG number to an Orange contract without any problems. It isn't classed a 'Port' but it served the same purpose and was all pretty straight forward (through onestopphoneshop).Charles J0
