£5000 to invest

I sold my caravan last week and the buyer who I knew give me £5000. Where and what is the best place to invest this.

    There are a million answers to your question, you need to be much more specific in what you want to achieve Savings rate are very low at the moment.

    I should have been more specific, appologies.
    I would like a no risk investment without drawing on it for a year. I do normaly bank with the Halifax but I do have a large investment with them, and with all the talk of banks going bust I thought i would put this money seperate from them.

    In other words you dont want to invest but save your money.

    might i suggest putting part of it into an ISA to use up your allowance for the year? and possibly use the remainder to put into next years allowance.

    3600 in a cash isa, the rest in a reasonable interest instant access savings acct. yorkshire / NR / etc etc
    Mr & Mrs Doomcow Wedding Fund: £10200/£18000 (by 04/2012) (spent £2000)

    whats wrong with premium bonds?
    i just invested an extra 3200 last week, and im averaging a 50 pound prize every 2-4 months! works out to be 3% interest return so beats my bank
    Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
    current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
    Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

    new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,000
