cheap broadband

I was just browsing Martin's advice on cheapest broadband and I have a couple of points might be interest to others.

I transfered to ukonline so I had not set up costs: I was paying £9.99 for 541k (cannot remember the exact figure) and that was upgraded, for free, to 1mg. In the six months I've been with them the line has been lost about twice; no warning, no explanation, no apology. Customer service is non-existant.

Now I have discovered that because I'm on their loop, or whatever, it looks as though I will probably have to pay BT another set-up charge should I decide to return to a non-loop broadband line. I'm still not totally clear abt this, uk's email's are somewhat enigmatic and nothing is mentioned abt this on their website.

If I am wrong I would be pleased to corrected.

Tom you are probably right - UK Online are so cheap because they have put their own equipment into the BT exchanges - that is the unbundling. The cost will be get your line put back onto the BT kit.

Is there anything in their T&C's ? I was looking at using UK Online but their kit in my exchange is now "full". I seem to recall you had to be with them for 12 months min.
