ok ordered new nissan quashuai ascenta today, instead of 499 down its only 300 so 200 quid discount even persuaded them to throw in some roof bars and floor mats, always worth having a laugh, bit of banter and amazing what you can get, also told him i werent taking no for an answer lol.
new car is deivered 12 march.

WOW!!! WELL DONE. That's a sweet deal. How did you manage that? That's the deal I was after (upgrade from Accenta to top spec model) Dealer wasn't budging so I had to settle at £599 Advance payment for the basic petrol Accenta. I even phoned Nissan UK to check on what the dealer told me. Wish this thread was started a week earlier lol... Did you have a test drive? Nice cars aren't they....Even the basic Accenta I went for was seriously comfy and smooth to drive....seriously nice car...oh no, now I'm sounding like a Clarkson clone!

it may well work out cheaper right now to purchase a new car privately and fund it from your DLA payments....after all its a buyers market....the New Ford Fiesta is on offer at a local dealership, and the Vauxhall Corsa I got (same spec) is available %free for £11,000.....
    !
    Hi Guapa1,
I had the same concerns as you regarding length of DLA award. I also wanted a car with height so test drove a Daihatsu Terios from my nearest main dealer (Yeovil, Somerset). The dealer was very helpful and I ended up buying the demonstrator with 68 miles on it. He informed me that as I am disabled I could purchase the car minus the VAT! That was a saving of about£2,500 on its own, then I had a discount as it was a demonstation model and he put mats in as well. I then got a deal on a luggage cover and wind deflectors for the windows and he PX'd my old Astra. I paid about £10,000 in the end and it works out at about £150 per month (over 5 years) but it is mine and I can sell it if I need to, for nearly what I paid. The VAT made all the difference, so ask your dealer.

    Good idea! Thanks for posting.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

OK, I 've done the sums, and because I don't know whether not I'm going to be able to continue in my job I'm going to take the motability car.

The Honda jazz is the only car that came up in my search with nil advance payment. The dealer is coming round this week. Apparently, they made it nil advance so they can get rid of them as the new ones are coming in.
    Wish me luck!

I am just changing from a Renault scenic at the end of my 1st lease. I couldn't believe the increase in advance payments. I paid £495 advance 3 years ago and it's now in the thousands.
Unfortunately, we need an automatic car thats large enough for both my childrens wheelchairs.
I have ordered a Citroen grand C4 picasso with an advance of £995. (Lower advance for a manual car.) Hoping to get a good condition bonus of £200 from my current car to put towards it. Hoping to collect the car this week.
The spec on it looks significantly better than my current scenic. Worth a look!
Hope this works, as this is my first post!

Absolutely! Car sales people are just as Human as the rest of us (well nearly!). Some are a complete pushover, others are hard as nails, and having a laugh and joke with them can only have a positive response.
As an ex Motability specialist, it was always refreshing to be actually able to 'talk' to customers and have a bit of banter with them. Business is business, but that doesn't mean it has to be stone faced.
I used to get on like a house on fire with most of my customers, and if I'd saved all the bottles of booze that i'd been given, I could have opened my own off licence.
One lovely lady baked me a batch of cream and jam scones, which were much appreciated by me and my colleagues!

Its good to hear mostly positives from everyone re the dealers!
We are just starting to look at different cars, its our first mobility car, so have booked a few apmts, one with Citreon to test drive Grand C4 Picasso as we need a decent boot space and decent rear seat space and it needs to be automatic, and it seems a good car.
I read about the Toyota RAV speacial offer so may now have to look for a Toyota dealer near us. I really dont want to rush into anything, and cant really afford more than £1000 advance payment, some of the cars we looked at (Galaxy, Mondeo estate) seemed to want 3K plus !

I was quite interested in the Rav4, but like you need an automatic. I changed my mind rapidly when I saw the AP is over £4000, especially when the manual is £995.

We went to see the Honda dealer today to see the CRV, manual is around £1400 adv payment but the automatic is £4000!
We test drove the Grand C4 Picasso toady, very nice but the dealer wouldnt budge on the £1195 Adv fee.
    Will keep looking
