Goodbye Dollond & Aitchison

Once they were number one, in fact the only truly national chain. Not sure if they were victims of recession, or mismanagement, and aiming too high in terms of quality and price.
Been away for a while.

  • Will have to give them some time to unravel whether they shift the D&A service into Boots stores, or keep the D&A locations operating under a new title...

Call me tight, but I've never had my eyes tested.

Opticians were always expensive and while I could see OK I didn't see the point.

I wonder if they saw that coming.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Dammit. They were about the only optician I trusted to sell me good hard-wearing glasses that I wouldn't bend within a month.

KKR eh? I wonder if the execs at D&A are down at the back gate now fighting off the barbarians.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

If you wait till you can't see it may be too late.

So you'd rather save £20 (and some places will do a sight test for free) than find out whether you have a treatable eye condition which could prevent blindness if detected early enough?

    moneysaving gone too far

You do realise that you don't actually have to buy glasses after an eye examination? Us optometrists don't hold a gun to your head till you pick some designer frames.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
