Hiya I have a idea for a small business which before I even think about going ahead with it need some help..
I'm thinking of starting up a McDonalds and KFC delivery service in my town, where customers would place an order for a McDonalds or KFC and a delivery driver would get the McDonalds or KFC and deliver to the customer.
I know there are services like this all over the UK so its not unique but just wondering if there are any legal complications/regulations involved in this?
I would be looking to run this business idea part time in the evenings and hiring a delivery driver on a part time basis.
Both companies do this in parts of the country. You may find you will step on their IP. instead of spending a ton of money, go and see the local franchise operator and see if firstly they are not having to do this from their franchise, secondly if they did not have any objection. If they do you are dead in the water as I have known (my Daughter is a shift manager at a Mcd's and married to the son of the franchisee) of a burger van trying to buy in bulk with the aim to re-sell in another location. They were banned from being able to buy from all the McDonalds in the area.0 -
Hi all
I'm thinking about starting up a computer repair shop in my local town. I have a big knowledge of computer repair and have been working in I.T for the past 3 years.
I need some help on where I should begin, how would I go about getting a business loan? I have no money to put into it so would be looking into getting a loan of about £25k.
I have been looking into some small retail units which are around 11k per annum.
I have a few family relatives which experience in I.T who have said they're willing to help out.
Do you think I should go ahead with my business idea? Is it ideal at my age? And if so where shall I begin to get things moving?
Thanks for your help
Take all of what Savvy_Sue has said, everything is good advice. However, if you are determined and believe you have a good idea, I would have pointed you to the Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme. It and a few other smaller schemes are accessible for your type of project.
To get it you need a thorough business plan with a detailed SWOT analysis.
Your local business link would be able to point you in the right direction.
That said, if you current work full time, why not advertise a call & collect service? Establish that at night and go from there.0 -

Second, trustees of organisations working with children or vulnerable adults should be checked. It's the law in certain circumstances that if you or anyone else is working unsupervised with children, vulnerable adults or disabled persons. You will need a DBS certificate. You can DBS yourself directly or via Social Services.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I am currently in the process of starting up a property business which will utilise both my skills in architecture (in which I have a masters) and property development which I also have previous experience off.
I was just wondering in terms of the property development side of things if people might have an idea of the tax liabilities that would be incurred if I were to buy a property through the limited company in order to do it up and sell it on at profit.
I understand that if this was my home CGT would be applicable but through a business would it just be income tax that would apply? The purchases would be self funded as we have a bit of capital saved for the first project.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I have used them in the past as a quick measure to protect a name and will admit £4.99 for a company is, on the face of it great value. The real pain comes when you need all the othe items, books, seal, articles, ahhhhhhhhhhh.0
